$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('threadbear', 'Y')up. I'm watching the gold chart. In the last hour gold has gone up about 5.00 American!

Bring it on!

I'm praying for $1,000 gold. Not because I particularly care how much my pathetic little stash increases in value, but because I want to see how the financial newspapers accommodate the extra digit.

Agreed - silver will out perform gold in the long run and is less expensive.

The Dollar is falling to new lows again. [web]http://www.weblinks247.com/indexes/idx24_usd_en_2.gif[/web]
Gold is skyrocketing because of the fall:
[web]http://www.kitconet.com/charts/metals/gold/t24_au_en_usoz_4.gif[/web]
Oil is launching into orbit with the falling dollar today too:
[web]http://www.321energy.com/charts/tmp/chart.jpg[/web]
Is this thing gonna crash like everyone has worried about or are the central banks going to slowly let her fall???? It really depends on China, Saudi Arabia, and others huh?

I think China will wait till we do something to piss them off though before they'll bail big time out of the dollar. Maybe the USA attacking IRAN might piss them off enough. They'll probably even threaten the USA that if they attack Iran they'll dump the dollar.

Scary times for those of us living in the USA.....

Don't worry guys, that tick up in the gold price was just me dumping my "bernanke just might show some spine and not lower rates" dollars at the local coin store.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'I')'m not sure if you're looking at spot or futures prices, but the Dec. contract is now down .50 to 77.745.

Edit: Make that 77.72... 8O

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'T')hanks rocc. So the spot price is a little bit higher than the Dec. contract, but it's down about the same absolute amount on the day.

This is getting unnerving...

I hear toothpaste at some grocery stores is in the $4-7 range - and that is LAST weeks price!!!

Mishkin, reserve member, quoted as saying words to the effect that the fed will flood with liquidity, while balancing the peril of a moral hazard. Good luck wid dat!

The words out...Helicopter Ben is going to follow Japan's lead and reduce rates to zero, if need be. Usually done to battle deflation, but what the hay, they're banksters AND mavericks.

Here's your sign TB...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')ASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The Federal Reserve stands ready to cut rates again to keep the economy on a moderate growth track in the face of the financial market turmoil, said William Poole, the president of the St. Louis Federal Reserve bank on Friday. "My guess is that the inherent resilience of the U.S. economy along with future policy actions, should they be desirable, will keep the economy on a track of moderate average growth and gradually declining inflation over the next few years," Poole said in a speech in New York City. Poole said he saw tentative signs that the financial markets are beginning to recover from the recent upset, although financial fragility is obviously still an issue. "If the upset were to deepen in a sustained way, it might have serious consequences for employment stability," he said.

Then again Poole also said no rate cut...

So maybe he is really saying to raise rates...

Wow...just wow

The chimps have taken over.

Yep...companies like Amazon and Google holding the whole house of cards up.

Frankly - the fed is buying time for Bush to attack Iran and for the big boys to get out.
