$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('SinisterBlueCat', 'l')ateralus...yawn...get an original thought, eh? you are preaching to the choir here.

Really?

So what's your take on things then besides 'wishing' that things get better when your bankers, your Federal Reserve is destroying the very institutions that you 'pretend' to cherish?

It's your system that's screwed. It's your 'dumbed down' populace who spend more time on YouTube watching Britney Spears videos and American Idol...who can't find their own nation on a map of the world..than learning anything that isn't 'SOLD THEM' by your bought and sold corporate media.

I don't have the illusion. You do.

I clearly stated I believe we are on the road to hyperinflation . That means , wait a sec..... metaphors clearly aren't your strong suit. If we continue in our present direction ( monetarily speaking ) I believe we will have hyperinflation eventually. By christmas ? No , although predictions on when certain events will happen is something I don't do, been burned too many times .I am not ordinarily or historicaly a doom and gloomer when it comes to the fiscal health of this country , but I'm also not one who lets past performance indicate future gains , my eyes are open and I see . There is a gathering financial shit-storm on the horizen , christ-sakes sinister , you don't even need to be able to read between the lines to discern the truth. It's on the news and in the mouths of ALOT of guys that know a lot more about finance than you or I.We are headed towards DEEP shit and I believe we are at or almost at the tipping point , where our collapse is assured no matter what TPTB do. Then again who knows ? I was absent the day Mrs. Crabapple went over global finance.

I'm 42 , I read biographies and political essays for fun , I read financial sense online , silver bear cafe ,whiskey and gunpowder , LATOC ,and market ticker regularly. I am not a financial expert but I'm wise enough to research and seek out the voices that have proven to be correct more often than not . You must learn to take the financial experts on TV with a grain of salt . They have a vested interest and are under orders to be optimistic in their forecasts and outlooks . A big part of what determines the short-term health of our economy is consumer confidence . Kudlow and Cramer are CHEERLEADERS , they are well paid to ensure people invest in the stock market . Many americans have been conned into believing that the DOW is the most important indicator of the financial health of this country , nothing could be further from the truth . I'm also a Leo , I like rain , long walks in the moonlight and puppies . I'm turned off by phonies and women who don't know how to laugh! I'd like to be an actor someday but right now I'm concentrating on getting my degree in special education--- I luv U Hef!!!!

I edited out some wildly off topic stuff about 9/11, cliches, personal biographies, and the rest.

I got a complaint about thread-jacking...

Feel free to continue talking about hyperinflation, dollar devaluation, economic cycles with regards to the declining dollar, etc.

It's Sunday in Oregon at 11:15 pm. I am canning salsa then going to bed. What shall I awaken to at this rate?

Greenback slips to near a 15-year low

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he New Zealand dollar held its ground as the greenback slipped to near a 15-year low against a basket of currencies today.

Meanwhile, dealers were watching to see if the US dollar would break through its all-time low of 78.19 on its trade-weighted index in 1992, a development that could ignite a further sell-off in the currency.

It slipped to 78.398 today, and fell to a record low versus the euro

So let us try to make obedient respectful beings who shall

If all time 35 years low in 9-1-92 was 78.33...

then we just had a new one at 78.313, 9-24-2007 02:26:09

Not a pretty sight. Makes me wonder just how soon until the Fed starts printing 500 and 1,000 FRN again!

Maybe GW on the 500, and of course, Easy Al Greenbuck on the 1,000.

I just keep thinking of how my measly retirement lost about 8% in the past month, while it only makes about 4% a year if I'm lucky. I'm thinking of stocking up on cat food, since I won't be able to afford the fancy feast when I get to retirement. I'll have to stick to the friskies.

The Canadian Dollar just hit par. I traded a 20 for a 20 at the Commonground Fair. I have the Canadian. I think I did ok!

All the way through the drain...

Seriously - when critical mass is exceeded it could drop to 40 overnight.

Capital flight is already happening.

I expect the Dow to hit new heights - like 15...17...20K.

Keep the sheep alseep.

And here is what H. Kuntsler has to say about the crashing dollar:

Link

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')hat all this comes down to is the sense of a nation absolutely fooling itself that it can carry on in the way it is used to. I'm hardly an advocate of the US giving up and committing suicide. What I advocate is a broad recognition that reality is compelling us to change our behavior. Reality is trying to tell us that we can't run an economy based on nothing more than investment schemes without directing investment into activities that produce things of value. Reality is telling us to be very worried about living arrangements that can only function with copious imports of oil from people who are disgusted with us. Reality is telling us that we can't divert our food crops into making motor fuels without people becoming unable to afford either fuel or food. Reality is telling us to redirect our culture more toward things-we-do-with-other-people and less toward things-we-do-with-new-things. Reality is telling us to shift from avoidance behavior and denial to engaging with reality in order to lead lives that are consistent with reality.

The next several weeks are liable to be a time of great stress as these realities become increasingly undeniable. I imagine the public chatter will become increasingly delusional as the wave crests. When it it finally comes, the shock of recognition that we are a bankrupt nation will present itself at first as a great silence. The public's collective jaw will fall open, but no sound will come out. That will be the true moment of shock and awe.
