Are you a theist or an atheist?
Do you believe that there are supernatural forces of one sort or another, or do you believe that there are no supernatural forces?

Just curious.

I picked atheist but really I vacillate among degrees of agnosticism.

That said, reality doesn't need supernatural forces to be weird and unknowable. My image of the universe is not hard and flat like one might imagine that of an atheist would be.

I would describe myself as an existential atheist. I don't believe in the supernatural, or that humanity has a purpose other than what we construct on our own.

If there is a god, it wouldn't be a god in the popular sense. I imagine it would be a living organism, a member of a "creator" race that put us here as some experiment or reality TV show (referring to that one "South Park" episode. ;-))

One of the best things about being an athiest is that you can follow your own moral compass. I don't have to fear hell, I don't have to worry about going to heaven. I don't have to worry about lecherous priests. I don't have to feel bad about breaking a commandment or something. And I don't have to worry that there is a big huge, damning, all-knowing, all-powerful, spiritual boogieman looking over my shoulder every day of my life.

Atheism is perfect for people who love freedom, that trust their own judgement instead of some thousands of years old dead guy and wants to keep an open mind.

I'm a sceptic atheist. I do not belive in god, but somewhere out there is a mighty force working against me.

I don't know. There could be a God. I just can't believe in one who interbreeds with humans or writes books.

No visions or revelations yet, only vague impressions. Multidimensionality, on the other hand, is a nearly established fact - ispo facto.

Chemically and bio-physiologically retuning the CNS/ANS nerve trunk harness does, in fact, yield varying perceptual awarenesses - experience outside of the accepted consensual trance, at the very least. Charles Tart is pretty good at ferreting out the meaning from the data. Check him out:

I do not believe in God in any traditional sense as an all powerful conscious being governing all the universe. Give me a break.

However, the marvelous simplicity and equilibrium of the laws of the universe are quite astonishing.

The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

I have the same feeling, maybe god exists but I believe it is beyond our knowledge. In any case, god or no god, one sure thing: god won't help us when PO strikes!

Lol Im an athiest but I really want to believe in heaven, I just cant.

I convince myself that if there is a god he will forgive me for not believing in him.

You could say that Im an optimistic athiest (oxymoron) who is hedging his bets.

I believe in God.
gee, and I'm the only one in this thread so far.
 look out!

God is a matter of faith, and everyone must define faith for one's shelf.

but I must say this, I tend to have respect for all forms of faith, let it be from Jews, Muslims, Christiniaty or any other (except devil and evil worship), simply because those who believe are able to make that leap beyond their mortal shelves.

To be an atheist is easy, it is the lowest common denominator. It takes a really clear mind and spirit to belive (without being brainwashed of course, but genuinely believe).

God bless us, EVERYONE, weither we know it or not, weither we like it or not.
