Bizarre, I read somewhere that atheists are the most admired group of people in Europe. Our friends at the other side of the pond are indeed so very different. We also think there were no WMD.

I believe in crap all. And I don't really care about it either. What strikes me as funny is, the only people who claim atheism is a religion too, are christians. I guess they just can't imagine not being religious. Which is ofcourse the reason they're religious in the first place.

Some days I'm an atheist. Some days I'm a theist. Most days my scientific training holds sway and I'm an agnostic. As science cannot prove or disprove god or even spirituality, we can't know, based on science as it stands at this time, if god exists or not. On the other hand I have had some experience with spirituality and 'weird' occult stuff and so I can't be absolutely sure, even in my own mind that god does not exist. Nor can I be absolutely sure god does exist and if he/she/it does, which god/dess is the right god/dess. So I've decided to take the only really intellectual stand and I'm withholding judgement and am waiting to see what happens.

I think there is a missing element in your poll. How many Americans actually know what "atheist" means? Half of them probably think that atheists are alien invaders from the planet Athes or some such.
