I'm an atheist, I believe that there is no such thing as god. One thing I see is religion limits freedom, and civil liberties, so I choose to be a non-believer.
Another note is I'm not afriad to tell people that I do not believe in god, I just have to stand up to my beliefs.

Tyler Durden believes in God. He most if he makes such a statement.

A diest believes in "God" too. But believing in God doesnt mean you believe in the kind and just God everyone says he is.
Hence.
You have to consider the possibility that GOD DOES NOT LIKE YOU

I don't believe in organized religion. It can be abused as a means of control. I was raised a Catholic. When I actually opened the Bible and read it, I found that there was a lot more to it then what they read during Mass. You don't need someone to tell you what to believe, go to the source.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') actually looked at what religions are today and thought. Would a loving caring God want this? Again I was placing my ideas as a man on God.

The answer is no. But I believe we are due for a spiritual revolution. Actually, the peak oil crisis could very well be the catalist. We shall see.

Definately a theist. I still fornicate and beat my dick like it owes me money though.

There has to be more than what's on this planet (and yes that's called faith).

I believe in God.. I am dougtful of the ground crew.
However, if one is to have a piece of God in his/her life, a religion is the most common means of doing this.

I believe in a higher power or a God. I do not believe in religion or their texts. Most of these books were written down after being oral traditions for a very long time and I have a hard time believing the Word of God hasn't been skewered by the mind of men. They can be good reading and have some fine examples of how to lead your life, but should not to be taken literally.

I would have to say I mostly believe in simply trying to be a good person. Living by the Golden Rule. If there is an afterlife, I think God will take more stock in how you've lived your life rather than how, where, or how often you prayed. If God judges you at all. I guess we'll all just have to wait and find out firsthand.

Yep, its going to be a great party with god, and everyone is welcome. Personally, I want to buy God a beer and have a chat that lasts about a trillion years or so.

I don't fear God because he gave us all a choice - to fear or to love - and a brain to use and excerise. I choose To Love. The opposite of 'To Love' is 'To Fear'. Unfortunately there are too many dummies in the world that have pure self interest at heart that teach us to fear - taking that personal choice away from us - and messing up the world in the process.

Everyone is worthy of Gods love - and the party - from the begining of time to the lasting future of the universe.

Well it's good to see the rational people outnumber the retards at least somewhere. 57% here at PO is decidedly better than 10% out in public. A little critical thinking and intellectual honesty goes a long way towards debunking mythology.

Hey Phil, Who are the retards? I'm sure everybody thinks or feels they are right. So the retards would then be anybody who thinks differently?

Phil, we should talk man. Crom will welcome you if you only believe. Crom doesn't care if you live or die. Only that you do it well.

Crom is strong. When you die, You must go before Crom, and he will ask you, what is the riddle of steel? And if you do not know it. He may ask you. What is the riddle of lead. And if you do not know it. He may ask you. What is the riddle of nuclear. and if you do not know it. He may ask you. What is the riddle of oil and gas. And if you do not know it. Then he will cast you out of Vahalla and laugh at you. That's Crom. Strong on his mountain.

Come to Crom and if you do not. Then to hell with you retard! :-D
Peace out!

evolution

Unread postby me » Mon 13 Dec 2004, 01:32:39

Hey~

The Bible (Genesis) and evolution are not two different things. The Bible references the exact same order that evolution does. light, water, land, plants, animals, people They actually walk hand in hand with each other. It's hard for me to see what the big fight is all about. The Bible has all kinds of truth in it, that it takes us thousands of years to discover. Like, the Bible says that the earth hangeth from nothing. People have thought that Hercules held up the earth. Some Chinese cultures thought that the earth sat on the back of a gigantic turtle. The Bible also says... do not drink the blood of animals. People have actually used the blood of animals as medicine. and of course they got very sick. But, if they would have just read the Bible, they would have known better wouldn't they have? The Bible is the truth and the way to a healthy happy lifestyle. It promotes love and only things that will help you and your family prosper.

God loves you, even if you act like He isn't there.

~Carey$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Sencha', 'I') would describe myself as an existential atheist. I don't believe in the supernatural, or that humanity has a purpose other than what we construct on our own.

If there is a god, it wouldn't be a god in the popular sense. I imagine it would be a living organism, a member of a "creator" race that put us here as some experiment or reality TV show (referring to that one "South Park" episode. ;-))

One of the best things about being an athiest is that you can follow your own moral compass. I don't have to fear hell, I don't have to worry about going to heaven. I don't have to worry about lecherous priests. I don't have to feel bad about breaking a commandment or something. And I don't have to worry that there is a big huge, damning, all-knowing, all-powerful, spiritual boogieman looking over my shoulder every day of my life.

Atheism is perfect for people who love freedom, that trust their own judgement instead of some thousands of years old dead guy and wants to keep an open mind.
