The H-frame is rigid for carrying load. Without any crumple zones, all forces of the accident are transmitted to the occupants. Now since most cars on the road today in the USA are SUVs, your chances of hitting or being hit by another SUV is very high, exacerbating this situation even further.

SUVs are simply a bad, bad idea. They need to be removed from the road asap.

I draw the line between freedom and safety when a technology takes a step back to a more primitive technology that increases the level of hazard to the public generally. One of the biggest advances in road safety was the introduction of crumple zones, thanks to Ralph Nader (inter alia). SUVs are a distinct step backwards, and if we didn't have ABS brakes we'd see a horrific rise in the road death toll.

I hate SUV's because they're dangerous, selfish and stupid. Its not a one-to-one relationship with dangerous, selfish and stupid SUV drivers, but its getting close.
Specop does a great job trotting out all the usual excuses & RightThink talking points (so you joined up yet Specop?), but its bullshit and he and we all know it.
Bigger vehicles take longer to stop, higher vehicles tip/roll more, they are more rigid, have higher & worse impacts, and crap visibility close in (Four? kids have been killed in their driveways by SUVs in last twelve months in Aus., one by a sportstar dad who advertised the very tank he killed his son with).
Safer? For people afeared of discovering just how fat & lazy they've become.

Inflammatory suggestions:
1. Anyone more than 5kg over their ideal bodyweight to have their cars immobilised.
2. Everybody has to push their vehicles the first fifty yards.
3. Men with endowment issues can instead carry around and display big sausages (don't think i don't care about ya specop ).

YOU STILL HAVENT MADE A CASE AGAINST BANNING SUV'S

What does a few pictures of car crashes prove? Want me to find some pictures of...ohhh.....a wrecked Taurus? Or Mustang? Cavalier?

CARS are unsafe, lets just ban cars. And stairs, better ban those too. Dont forget paper cuts, those hurt like a sommbitch. Oh, and knives!! They can cut you!. Better ban water too, it might have bad chemicals in it......

People arent forced to drive SUV's. They CHOOSE to. I know choice is a hard concept for liberals who want the government to look over every aspect of their day to day lives, but believe it or not there are those of us who like being able to make CHOICES.

So tell me again, what is your case for banning SUV's? Because they roll over? Want me to find pictures of cars that rolled over? If you want to parade about banning something, ban motorcycles.

check out the statistics of who kills the most pedestrians and bikers each year and what type of vehicles. I can attest to these stats. I am involved with the alternate commute networks out here and most all my near death experiences have been from suvers. On cell phones, cutting red light corners, blowing through red lights, etc.. The worst was a women in the morning a few months back on cell phone, escalade or some other big thing, blew around the turn on red probably at around 50 miles and hour in a 25 zone. I had the walk light. I just happened to see the nasty hole in the corner of my eye and stopped missed me by a millimeter. scary man. That was a day if there is a god it saved me that day. Well anyway the nasty stinky hole just kept going full speed. I even looked her in the eyes. she pretended not to see me (get that alot from the humanoids). they will actually pretend not to see u and just go at u.
she didnt want to wait for the lights. It actually made me get a new better job in an area with less traffic and suv genetic mutants. The lunatic jihad driver was another one that got me out of that no mans land also but thats another story. He didnt have an suv though just a mid size pickup.
Not very friendly people. and clearchannel put a threat out to all walkers and bikers to run them over. Hey I own a mazda b3000 so I am not antitruck. anti Madmen at the helm!

Son, I could buy 20 SUVs and not notice it. I simply think they are the equivalent of environmental vandalism, and they are part of what we need to get rid of if we are to face peak oil successfully, whenever it arrives.

And we need to start facing it soon.
