They need to just release what they have while they can.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Cid_Yama', 'N')onsense. Releasing classified documents provided by someone else is not espionage.

If they could do it, they would have done it over the Pentagon Papers. In the Supreme Court ruling New York Times vs United States it was ruled that the New York Times had the right to publish the Penagon Papers without censure.

Cid, you're forgetting this a "post-9/11 world." If Assange pushes it too far and gets classified a terrorist or national security threat, they could just take him out with a predator drone. Or I guess the US can't fly those in European countries, but they could send the CIA after him and Supreme Court protections don't apply to foreign nationals outside the US.

I'm not sure killing him will solve much, it would reinforce the criminality that's already prevelent. It goes back to the "What do you have to hide?" mentality only now there's one more thing to cover up. Assage isn't the only person who has access to this information. I'm sure he's spread it throughout the world.

An interesting topic that keeps coming up is that the Wikileaks thing is all staged and the outcome is completely different than everyone expects. I could see it being used to shut down access to blog's and forums since they could be deemed national security risks and spreaders of Wikileak information.

This sounds to me like something that would happen in NAZI Germany.

Interesting that government can carry out all sorts of illegal activities as revealed in some of these documents, and instead of those in power focusing on these activities, they want to attack the messenger.

Most governments today are criminal enterprises.

If he is arrested using some of these anti-terrorist laws we now have, it will just demonstrate the degree to which we have moved into totalitarian abuse of liberty.

"Patriotic hacker" says he's responsible for the DOS attack on wikileaks:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A') computer hacker is claiming he temporarily disabled the Wikileaks site Sunday afternoon, right as the latest dump of leaked State Department memos were scheduled to publish on the site.

The site was down temporarily on Sunday, the same time the hacker began tweeting he had begun attacking it.

"www.wikileaks.org - TANGO DOWN - for attempting to endanger the lives of our troops, 'other assets' & foreign relations," he tweeted late Sunday morning.

"Tango down" is a special forces military term for having eliminated a terrorist.

He goes by the Twitter handle "th3j35t3r", which is leetspeak for "The Jester."

On his website, th3j35t3r calls himself a "hacktivist for good." A "hacktivist" -- a hacker-activist, supposedly hacks for a good cause. His cause is preventing young people from being recruited online by jihadists. He does this by hacking jihadist websites, and temporarily disabling them.

Assange has the biggest balls the world, hands down.

This stuff is so unprecedented, so disruptive, I'm surprised they haven't killed him.

He has distributed an "insurance" file through the P2P networks super-encrypted. Apparently it contains ALL the documents, not just the 200 or so released so far... ie. the 200,000+ documents. If they try and drop the hammer, all that needs to happen is a third party to release the "Key" passphrase and everyone will know everything. Nice.

He is being supported by a loose affiliation of hackers and high-level network administrators globally. This is a battle of anarchy vs. the establishment breaking out on the internet.

This is Roubiniesque "Black Swan" stuff.

I think you'd have to compare her behavior to past Sec. States. Directing diplomatic personnel to spy on the UN (including the Sec General) sounds outrageous -- I think I read they were even told to find out credit card numbers.

BUT.. geopolitics is dirty and shady. For all we know this stuff didn't start with Hillary.

EDIT: correction, I meant with not "until Hillary." Maybe a freudian slip there, lol

Interpol issues worldwide wanted notice for wikileak founder

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')b]WikiLeaks: Interpol issues wanted notice for Julian Assange
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange facing growing legal problems around world

The WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, is tonight facing growing legal problems around the world, with the US announcing that it was investigating whether he had violated its espionage laws.

Assange's details were also added to Interpol's worldwide wanted list. Dated 30 November, the entry reads: "sex crimes" and says the warrant has been issued by the international public prosecution office in Gothenburg, Sweden. "If you have any information contact your national or local police." It reads: "Wanted: Assange, Julian Paul," and gives his birthplace as Townsville, Australia.

Well that was fast. He's stuck in whatever country he's in at the moment.. he won't be able to go through customs anywhere without getting picked up.

Unless he turns himself in, he'll be an international fugitive on the run.

Wikileak fallout: Google blocks infowars and prisonplanet
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A') prominent U.S. political commentator has claimed that Google and YouTube are censoring various outlets from which the radio host broadcasts information.

In a video posted on YouTube on November 29, Jones claimed that articles hosted at two websites he maintains—Infowars.com and PrisonPlanet.com—have been blacklisted from Google News search results.

“We noticed two weeks ago—and we’ve done research and confirmed it—that PrisonPlanet.com, that for eight years has been accepted by Google News, has been completely banned,” Jones said. “No headline of PrisonPlanet.Com or InfoWars.com is allowed into Google News.”

Now, Jones continued, YouTube has stated that it has frozen the YouTube account “TheAlexJonesChannel”.

Jones explained that he received notice from YouTube that the channel has been flagged for a “community guidelines violation”.

The content that the TheAlexJonesChannel allegedly uploaded in violation of YouTube’s “Community Guidelines” shows a U.S. Apache helicopter shooting journalists in Iraq.

“Today, we received a notice for the Alex Jones channel…that it is going to be shut down for the foreseeable future,” Jones said.

The video, known as “Collateral Murder”, was originally made public by the whistleblowers website Wikileaks in April. Once online, it was immediately duplicated, edited, and rebroadcast by major media outlets around the world.

As Jones has pointed out, portions of the 18-minute-long video appear in video clips uploaded by many other YouTube users who presumably have not received violations notices nor penalties.

I guess maybe we need to stop talking about wikileaks or peakoil.com may get blocked from google news searches.

Past Secretary of States didn't get caught. Hillary's spying has been outed---she's been caught red-handed.

Those sites deserve to be blocked.

They aren't serious news. They have no business being indexed by google news. I guess maybe Russia Today will have to pick up the slack on google news tinfoil.

It gets scarier by the day. As more and more truth is suppressed, banned, distorted and so forth, we move closer and closer to Fascism.

Why should they ban any true story? The fear of panic doesn't justify distorting and hiding the truth.

I went to infowars after Max Keiser refered to it in one of his webcasts. I watched part of his webcast where the host openly started promoting weapons for self-defence such as switch blade knives as part of his new cast! What a nut I agree.

Truth is stranger than fiction it must be admitted. Why ban him though? Anybody with a brain can see the tin foil hat he secretly wears in the closet. People like that can be safely ignored. To ban his web site is to martyr him in the eyes of the public, and that he doesn't deserve.

Look what happens when you mess with criminal enterprises; they hunt you down and send you to the Gulag. The only difference between the government mob and the illegal mob is that the government mob pretends to use legal means to eliminate you; the illegal mob would not bother with the rigged "legal" procedures to make their violence look justified.

Saddam held a pretense of a trial before executing "suspected insurgents".

But nowadays we just send a Special Forces death squad or a drone.

They trumped up charges they could use to hunt him down. Since he is a threat to the highest levels of power, they will use all means to eliminate the threat. Eliminating him may not do it. They have to stop the releases. They need him alive.

They've trumped up charges against Assange to hunt him down, now they are trying to shut down the release of the wikileaks. Notice the trumped up charges are "sex crimes" to discredit the man.

We will get to see just how much they can shut down the internet.

He has become a threat to TPTB at the highest levels.

Noticed the search engine results are now also sanitized on Yahoo.

They bought up the search engine I had used and closed it down.

Kind of reminicent of Fahrenheit 451.

This, in and of itself, is a good revelation of what the reality is. They usually keep the iron fist well hidden in the velvet glove.

I worked for the state department at the asst secretary level. This is nothing new and pretty mediocre.

You should have seen what went on during the cold war. Tempest in a teapot.
