Will the US Economic Collapse Happen in 2018? The economic forecast for 2018 is more than bleak, and there is more than enough economic data out there to show there could be an economic collapse and stock market crash in 2018.

What was he thinking?

Al Gore also said the polar ice caps would be gone by 2012.
GregT on Wed, 17th Jan 2018 1:54 pm
“CLAIM”
“Al Gore predicted that Earth’s “ice caps” will melt away by 2014.”
“WHAT’S TRUE”
“In the late 2000s, Al Gore made a series of high-profile statements suggesting the possibility that Arctic sea ice could be completely gone during the summer by around 2013 or 2014.”
“WHAT’S FALSE”
“Gore did not himself make these predictions but said (in some cases erroneously) that others had; Gore never referred to a year-long lack of ice for both poles, but instead largely referenced Arctic sea ice in the summer.”
“ORIGIN”
“In the years 2007, 2008, and 2009, Al Gore made statements about the possibility of a complete lack of summer sea ice in the Arctic by as early as 2013. While Gore attributed these predictions to scientists, they stemmed from a selective reading of aggressive estimates regarding future melting. The comments became a popular talking point for human-caused climate change deniers in 2014 and onward when the predictions, which in some cases were overstated, did not pan out.”

Existing oil reserves are scheduled to begin a catastrophic crash within 1 to 3 years. When it hits the economic and social damage will be catastrophic. The end of Western Civilization, from China to Europe, to the US, will not occur when oil runs out. The economic and social chaos will occur when supplies are merely reduced sufficiently….

Greg, I too have noticed MM’s inability to comprehend simple English in some of my posts. Drugs? Mental handicap? Lack of education? All three?
He still doesn’t understand the words: ‘diversity of cultures and situations’. In the US they can be seen easily if you visit New Orleans and New York City. I guess he has never been out of Chicago’s ghettos.
Mad Kat on Wed, 17th Jan 2018 5:41 pm
MM, ‘collapse’ is NOT going to be experienced the same every place on the planet.
It is going to hit the US hard because it imports most of its necessities and energy.
It has a ‘just in time’ delivery system that is going to break down and end.
It has a population with few, if any, survival skills or the ability to be self-sufficient.
It relies on debt to exist.
That is NOT the situation in most of the world.
Do you think s Russian peasant will suffer as much as the ‘out of work chemist’ in Chicago? I don’t think so. You need an education in the real world, not the Mad Max Hollywood version.
Greg seems well placed to live out a long and happy life. I hope to do the same here, in the jungles of Luzon, Philippines. I look forward to awakening to the chatter of a tribe of monkeys instead of the sound of horns and sirens.

*Post-collapse Preparation Is the Answer*
Myth: Well-prepared individuals, groups, and communities will survive our impending collapse and maintain healthy, fulfilling, and productive lives in its aftermath.
Reality: Those who survive our collapse will be those who can obtain sufficient life sustaining essentials—especially clean water and food—on a continuous basis, both during and after collapse. Those who store large quantities of these essentials and those who attempt to produce food, either individually or in communities, will be easy targets for the vast majority who have neither the foresight to store nor the skills to produce. No matter how remote or secluded your sanctuary, somebody will know about it; and they will come to call when they become desperate; and they will be well armed and devoid of compassion. You can prepare for a last stand, but you cannot prepare for post-collapse survival. Post-collapse Life Will Be Preferable to Our Industrial Lifestyle Paradigm
Myth: Industrialization has brought nothing but misery and degradation to the human race; our quality of life (and spiritual wellbeing) will improve substantially in a post-collapse world.
Reality: The post-collapse lifestyle awaiting the few who survive will, under the best of circumstances, share many attributes with pre-Columbian America. Unfortunately, the realities associated with subsistence level existence bear little semblance to the Hollywood accounts. Those who anxiously await our post-collapse world will be disappointed, assuming they live to experience it. The fact that nobody is opting to jettison the amenities afforded by an industrialized way of life in favor of a hunter-gatherer lifestyle today should be sufficient proof that our future way of life is not something to be anticipated. Industrialism is not inherently “evil” or immoral; it is simply physically impossible going forward.
Survivorship bias
Survival bias is the logical error of concentrating on the people or things that made it past some selection process and overlooking those that did not, typically because of their lack of visibility. This can lead to false conclusions in several different ways. It is a form of selection bias.

Parroting peer reviewed ‘scientific’ studies. They are written by think tank stooges and paid for by corporations/government. Their jobs depend on saying what their owner wants to hear.
Not to mention years old before you see them. Would you rely on a weather report that is 5 years old?
You have been brainwashed to believe that it takes a degree to think. Hint: it doesn’t. Degrees are usually obstacles to outside the box thinking. You are an obvious example.

A weather report is not the same thing as a peer reviewed scientific paper. Hubberts original paper was written 14 years before its conclusions were proven accurate. Einsteins paper on relativity was written in the 1920’s and is still as relevant today as ever. Darwins book was written in the 1800’s and its still relevant today. You are grasping at straws! And none of the papers I have submitted are older than 8 years old. You are grasping at straws old man.

Still cannot think for yourself MM? Quotes from long dead people seldom fit today’s reality. I guess taking 3 hours to cross the Atlantic is the same as taking 90 days in his time?
“Does Einstein’s Theories of relativity have any holes in them?”
Certainly. The biggest hole are the singularities. GR predicts singularities, and in physically reasonable circumstances – the big bang singularity, and the black hole central singularity. Singularities are not physically problematic, they simply do not exist in reality. They are a problem only for the theories which have them – they tell us that these theories are wrong.
Then there are serious compatibility problems. First, with causality. If causality makes sense at all, it tells us that there cannot be causal loops. But GR has solutions with causal loops.
Then, it is incompatible with quantum theory. This alone is sufficient to accept, for most scientists, that GR is wrong and has to be replaced by some theory of quantum gravity. See GR quantification problems
Another big failure is local energy and momentum conservation. GR has none.”
https://www.quora.com/Does-Einsteins-Theories-of-relativity-have-any-holes-in-them-What
As for Darwin: “In light of the recent acceptance of the importance of catastrophic mass extinctions in the history of life, it may be time to reconsider the evolutionary views of Patrick Matthew as much more in line with present ideas regarding biological evolution than the Darwin view.”
Einstein and Darwin are so last century.
