Will the US Economic Collapse Happen in 2018? The economic forecast for 2018 is more than bleak, and there is more than enough economic data out there to show there could be an economic collapse and stock market crash in 2018.

Not news, just fact. The road down is going to get bumpier as the days go by with some sharp falls before the cliff. Prepare.

We already collapsed.
Around 2007. That
never got fixed, we just got used to it.
For example, used to go to Saturday night
City Symphony Orchestra, enjoy a little
Mozart, “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” and some
white wine, cheese and delicacies after.
But now that the economy is trashed,
no more symphony orchestra anymore.
Basically still bad times, so
gotta make do with sofa fires,

Global economic growth has peaked, says World Bank
https://www.ft.com/content/4b9e6190-f55e-11e7-88f7-5465a6ce1a00
A contraction in economic activity over an indefinite period of time represents a highly
unstable state that will cause the system to collapse.
Do you deny that Asia is apart of the global economic system? If not then they will collapse with the system…End of story!
Mad Kat on Mon, 15th Jan 2018 5:51 pm
Funny MM. Global TOTAL growth has peaked. But that means only that the West’s negative growth is subtracted from the real growth in the rest of the world. YUGE difference. The Western “growth” is fake numbers, massaged to look better ten it really is.
And, yes, Most growth numbers in the rest of the world are also massaged to some extent. But … if you observe what is actually happening in those growth countries you can see it. Not so in the US and most of the West. The West is undergoing a slow collapse, obvious in the headlines. Need I post a few dozen refs to prove my point? You will just ignore them anyway.

Yep those global growth numbers have been massaged for years including the 3.1% projection for 3018. The demise of oil demand hasn’t happened either. Short said it would happen by now and by the end of the year cobwebs on oil rigs would litter the world. Hehe. Doomers do have resolve. Just a bit short on facts. “While iron ore and copper have been the hot targets of overseas acquisitions by Chinese firms as they seek to feed an economy that up until 2015 was growing at double digits, the Chinese have also gone after gold, nickel, tin and coking coal. More recently the most desired metals are those that feed into a tectonic global shift from fossil fuels to the electrification of vehicles. This has meant a hunt for lithium, cobalt, graphite, copper and rare earths – metals that are used in electric vehicles, of which China has become the world leader.
The most interesting part of this trend is not that China is acquiring mines and mining company stakes abroad – that has been going on for at least a decade – but that the overt attempts to lock up the world’s mining and energy resources, some of which are critical to the future world economy, are happening under the nose of the United States…
… the United States appears to be doing little to gain access, through acquisitions, joint ventures or off-take agreements, to the materials of the future that are essential in the making of smart phones, computers, military equipment and renewable energy technologies. …
…we are quickly heading into a two-tier world of haves and have-nots. Where the haves are countries like China that seized the opportunity to acquire the world’s finite resources while they were still available, and the have-nots are forced to cow to the victors who will control and set the prices of the spoils.”

That 3.1 percent number isn’t averaged out through the population or adjusted for inflation. That is why you should look at GDP per capita instead. Which is around 1.3%

I have seen few movies made in Hollywood since 9/11/2001 that does NOT have a military insert or story line. I bet TV shows are similar, though I have not watched TV in decades. That is how brainwashing works. The subject is not even aware that it is happening. The American sheeple are asleep until…

According to the doomers and preppers back in the early 80s, imminent economic doom was going to happen before yesterday.
It didn’t. All of the hype got everybody running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
The time to prepare was 35 years ago. There was no internet, it was in underground print.
You’re late for the party and there really is no hope.
Time to crash and burn.
Time to drink too.

Of course they have no regrets because they don’t want to swallow their egos and pride and admit they made a dumb move…You are screwed wherever you are when society collapses due to all the people who didn’t prepare and have no idea the collapse is coming! “without electricity?”

The grocery store here already sources locally produced food.
“Without retail stores to buy tools and equipment?”
I have enough to last for several generations.

Greg, MM is not a very well educated young man. A bit of research would tell him that even in the dark ages, peasants had to work only a few hours a day to survive. Ditto for the hunter gatherers in prehistory. Even the peasants only owed ~10% of their produce to the king. Not the 50+% owed to the US government today.
I expect that an hours work in the morning, on the farm, will about cover the needs. Slop the pigs, feed the chickens and rabbits, gatherer the eggs, harvest some fruits and veggies, weed a bit, etc. Much easier than driving to work in traffic, putting up with arrogant bosses for 8-9 hours, driving home in traffic, and then wondering if I have enough fiat money left to pay taxes and fees, buy food and gas, etc.
When the electric goes, I have a huge book library to entertain me and provide mental stimulation. Not to mention being able to teach the local kids some survival skills and share good times with the neighbors, one of whom is my age. I am anxious to share past history with him. Bored? Never! Suicide? Not in this life! That is the cowards way out.
Mad Kat on Mon, 15th Jan 2018 8:51 pm

I cannot speak for Greg, but it obvious that he has done it and I am in the process. If you take one step at a time down the ladder, it is not painful at all. You slowly adjust to the new lifestyle and find that it is actually less stressful and less demanding than the old one you gave up. 90% of what Americans believe are ‘necessities’ are not. They are addictions created by the capitalist profit machine thru advertising brainwashing 24/7/365 from birth. Tell a Filipino that he ‘needs’ the latest I-phone and he will either ask what it is or laugh at you. Food and shelter are necessities. Most everything else is a luxury.

MM, do you ever think before you spew pure American exceptionalist bullshit? Come here and see for yourself what I have been telling you and Davy for a long time. the Ps is NOT like the US. The culture here is totally different and better in most ways. You are the retard, Mm.
Poverty is in the mind, not the real world. The people here are less stressed than the average American. They can have fun with friends that do not cost much if anything. I watched a group of boys kicking a partially inflated balloon around in a game of keep-away. The balloon cost maybe 10 cents, not the $20+ ball Americans would need to play the same game. They were laughing and enjoying the game as much as anyone could. THAT is the difference.

“Financial markets are the backbone of global economy and an integral component of modern societies. All other subsystems have developed hand in hand with the economic system. A disintegration can therefore not be analysed based on today’s system. A completely new system state would materialize.”
“Nevertheless, for illustration purposes here is an outline of some theoretically plausible consequences:”
“Loss of confidence in currencies. Belief in the value-preserving function of money would dwindle. This would initially result in hyperinflation and black markets, followed by a barter economy at the local level.“

who cares how much your gdp is when all of it goes to the elites on your country. And the slaves on the sweat shop floors will never see a middle class lifestyle. Because they are to brainwashed and conditioned by their authoritarian governments. that is why Asians write so little science papers despite having the highest IQ’s. They have no freedoms like in China, you cant even have facebook or twitter or youtube….And like in Japan they are conditioned to work to death. Your people might be the most intelligent but they are the least brave and are to cowardly to rise up and take what is theirs. There is basic FREE medical service for ALL.
The state relocates the poor out of the city and gives, yes gives, them a free small house and basic electric in the provinces.
College is FREE.
Few pay income taxes.
Seniors get all kinds of freebies and discounts not to mention special service.
And they are talking about a social security type of plan for everyone, not just the employed.
