Ah, so what you are saying, people have
evolved a fear of spiders over a long period of time because they are potentially dangerous. They like to read about these particular scary things because knowledge of such threats is beneficial to deep-seated survival instinct.
On the other hand, threats like energy depletion must be appreciated in an abstract manner, which most people don't bother with. Without an instinctive fear, they are considered uninteresting.
