$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('SeaGypsy', 'I') have been involved in the protest movement since I was a child attending anti apartheid rallies and Hiroshima Nagasaki rallies in the 70's.--snip-- Where trite nonsense opinions are hammered down hard, while opposing sides can voice their strongest views.
Excellent!! And kudo's for your dedication to the cause....or all the causes!! That protesting Hiroshima 30 years after it happened...pretty cool, I've got a picture with the kids by the Enola Gay myself.....anyway.....
Next time you bump into Paul, suggest he do something effective for the whales in relation to the amount of CO2 he is pumping into the atmosphere...it strikes me as bit disingenuous to be claiming he's "saving the whales" while at the same time dumping hideous amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere which long term might hasten their extinction. I mean seriously, whats the point of saving them today if such actions directly lead to their death tomorrow?
With his ship carrying perhaps 750,000L of fuel, thats roughly 3.6 million pounds of CO2 generated per expedition to be ineffective in the Southern Ocean. Has Paul done a risk/benefit calculation to determine how many whales he must save per ton of CO2 he emits to figure out if he has a net benefit, or a net harm, to the environment?
Either way....keep up the good work....without people crewing the ship, what would the Animal Planet Channel do for some decent reality programming....emit no CO2 and concentrate on something effective?
PS: You wouldn't be the skinny fellow with a scraggly beard who recently took over as XO are you? The only reason I ask is that my daughter thinks he's cute, if its you, could I PM you for a way to get an autograph?
