Is this the same as the Argentina report of a couple of weeks ago?

From the link:

"Under Ms. Ghilarducci's plan, all workers would receive a $600 annual inflation-adjusted subsidy from the U.S. government but would be required to invest 5% of their pay into a guaranteed retirement account administered by the Social Security Administration. The money in turn would be invested in special government bonds that would pay 3% a year, adjusted for inflation."

-----------
No worries mate. This is just one of Obama's tax cuts. The government will give everybody $600!. Thats a $600 tax cut for everybody*!!!!

(*The government will also take 5% more of your income to put in a new mandatory retirement program, but that doesn't matter because the 5% you lose will be mandatory investment---not taxes. Just remember this...this is a tax cut. You will get a $600 tax cut with this new program.) 8)

Well it looks to me that the Government is seriously thinking or trying to get their hands on peoples pension money. The same as in Argentina. I sure hope this does not become a trend.

Why so bitter about the Democrats? Bush got us here...

Without the politics now. :)

The quickest way to make the market plunge would be for this thing to pass or even get introduced in Congress. Everyone would pull out their 401ks even with the penalty.
If the American people ever allow the banks to control issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers occupied. It's going to be a matter of repeating the message over & over & over & over again on digg.com until people start chanting "confiscation you can count on!" on their own.

Don't you know it's all Bush's fault? Bush's policies made Obama confiscate our 401Ks. Yes we can!

Oh, for Christ's sake, read the god-damned ultra-deceptive, utterly-biased article.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')fter repeated questions asked by Neil Cavuto of Fox News, Miller said he would not be in favor of “killing the 401(k)” or of “killing the tax advantages for 401(k)s.”

This story is a joke. Just read it. It's classic Republican smoke-blowing. It's Hall of Fame quality. I can't believe you dweebs can't see what's really going on here.

Hello? This is a right-wing Republican blog, you dorks!

Read it!

If the 401Ks are invested in the Stock Market, they are worthless ANYHOW. What's the difference here if they are confiscated? The value was ALREADY confiscated.

When will people stop buying into this smoke and mirrors parlor trick stuff? There is NO MONEY. The system is BANKRUPT. Can you read: T-O-I-L-E-T P-A-P-E-R?

Stop worrying about it. Republicans ALREADY robbed you blind. There is nothing left for Obama to steal.

Call me crazy, but the John Locke Foundation doesn't seem like the most unbiased of news sources.

Once again you are wrong. It's the liberals who rob us with income taxes. Now they want to take the 401Ks & IRAs. What's next, money in checking and savings accounts?

Understand this: Money only HAS value when "unevenly" distributed. Once you start to "spread the wealth" it begins to lose its value. Go educate yourself, read more, post less.

Hello. What do you call the money being shovelled out of your pocket to bail out Fannie Freddie and AIG? This is liberal social welfare spending? WTF?

Rejoin us on the Planet Earth. You appear to be lost in another Dimension, the Twilight Zone of Free Market Claptrap. A dimension not of real money, but of toilet paper. A dimension where conservative nincompoops kiss the butts of their banking masters and write them blank checks. A dimension of smoke and mirrors, where the collapse of the economy is the fault of the President of the Future, not the President of the Past. A dimension where imbeciles write on Peak Oil with authority and righteousness defending the Free Market. LOL.

I saw some guys pull up in a black van today... They grabbed a shopping cart full of cans from a local homeless man. I heard them mutter something about it now being "government property"...
