$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('nobodypanic', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('hope_full', 'I') spent a not-insignificant amount of time today, calling and emailing the Senators (Webb and Warner) and posting things on internet boards and blogs and begging people to contact their senators.

I think this is pretty damn sneaky to try it in the house and then move it into the senate. TBS (toilet bowl scum) is a good description.

How *dare* they add $700 billion of debt to my taxes. I'm outraged beyond all words. I'm just too disgusted to even express my outrage. Un-frickin'-believable.

As to the FDIC limits, I agree that 99.5% of Americans have less than $100,000 cash in the bank. If these idiot senators really think that Americans care that the FDIC limits were raised, then they really are completely out of touch with the world.

I think this is a dark day for America. We've been sold into serfdom. We're bearing witness to one of the greatest wealth distribution schemes in the history of the world. They've robbed from the poor (and middle class) to give to the wealthy.

Shameful. Just shameful.

what are you worried about? you'll never pay for much of this at all; heck, you might never pay one red cent. it's impossible to collect taxes from the homeless, unemployed, and the indigent, and in a few months, that's what most of us will be anyway. :P

Indeed. Once the ramifications of peak oil engage at full throttle, this little "crisis" that we're experiencing currently will seem like a beachside picnic. $700 Billion will seem like a pimple on a fat ass cheek.

Our legislators haven't a clue, and for us to expect otherwise would be pure folly.

And what happened to the relief rally this was supposed to result in? ASX has been mainly in red all day.
Looks like I jumped in prematurely on some miners that I am trading.

By the way working in Sydney 2 days now (normally Melbourne).
Thought I should drop into the bullion shop here and pickup a couple of KG silver as the only shop that sold this in Melbourne closed. Was however told that there is 9 weeks waiting time.
Will drop in there after lunch anyway and see what, if anything, I can buy.

In Maine, Democrat House member Tom Allen, who voted AYE on the bill two days ago, is running against Republican Senator Susan Collins, who also voted AYE today.

So, I guess I'm just gonna wipe my ass with my ballot this November.

I've got a cellar full of food and a shed full of firewood.

Both Kansas Senators voted no. I guess they listened to their constituents.

Both Texas senators (R) voted yes. That's all she wrote.

Pork-hater Sen. Coburn from Okla. voted for the bill as well, which is surprising considering all of the shiny baubles attached to this rancid piece of shiat.

Good man, Ron. You stood up to the pressure from the wooden arrow lobby!

One of the Oregon Reps, Peter Defazio, is fairly astute in re: economics, has much more sensible plans for bolstering the economy.

Both Texas senators voted for the bill. Time to fire them.

I loved listening to the Vermont senators railing against the corruption and their ideas of who should pay for the bailout. I may need to move to Vermont.

My senator Russ Feingold voted against this crap.

Hopefully the house doesn't budge...although i'm guessing there is a TON of pressure on some of these guys.

My senators split their vote and strangly enough the guy up for reelection this year is the one who voted Aye. I wonder if he is running unopposed? I would find that odd so I look forward to voting against the old buzzard.

When/What time is this going through the house of reps?
Heard someone saying tomorrow Friday.

I have no doubt it will go through this time and that was my expressed opinion as soon as the vote failed first time.
It is often like that. Fails at first, add in some sweetners, the politicians look like they've been tough and listened to their constituents and then vote through.
The raised FDIC amount should also suit as this is not targeted to the working man but the high income earner.

Also, in Reuters.

Yeah. I'm sure all those people employed in the wooden arrow industry are breathing a sigh of relief tonight.

If you're just figuring out that Schumer and Clinton are bastards, you're way behind the learning curve.

Buffett was on the Charlie Rose Show tonight. Worth watching if you have the time.

Buffett says the bailout is most definitely needed to free up the logjam in the credit markets. If the bill does not pass, it will get real ugly.

Buffett said even if the bill passes, the recession continues. Best case senario is six months. Worst case....five years. Unemployment will go to 7 to 8 percent.

KD over at market ticker says Buffett is just covering his longs.
