$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('NoahsDove', 'I')'m not much of a gloom and doomer, but if US/Israel decides to launch an air strike over Iran we may see a major world economic crisis and spike in crude oil. Otherwise, I would say that US/World economy will survive. We may have to quickly adapt to nuclear, wind and solar energy, but I don't think it's going to be that bad. We'll also see many electric and hybrid cars on the road; bullet trains rather than airplanes as US begins to look more like Europe.
We may never see the type of economic growth that was achieved during the 20th century but most of the developed countries will still do pretty well. I'm afraid it will be the third world that will take the brunt of a major economic hit, as it always does.
Welcome to the site my friend.
Unfortunately, a lot of your vision of the future is wishful thinking.
Don't take my word for it, though, find out for yourself.
Start with "The Party's Over" by Richard Heinberg.
If you're feeling really saucy pick up a copy of "Overshoot" by William Catton.
Come back when you're done and let us know if you have revised any of your thinking about the future.
