Much depends upon its provenance, greenworm, where it came from.

In my neck of the woods, that would be a common rock type, somewhere between a schist and a gneiss. The platy minerals are most likely micas with aluminum, iron, manganese; with the iron and manganese weathering from a dark grey to the reddish oranges you see (is it hematite? some of it could be, or goethite, or a whole host of other oxidized iron minerals I categorize under "clays"). The rock was probably deposited as a mudstone or siltstone, buried at depth, metamorphosed by temperature and pressure at depth into the schist and gneiss you see before you. On the way up (orogeny), after compression, there may have been extension that either created voids for silaceous groundwater to travel along, depositing the quartz veins, or pegmatitic injection of liquid into the voides, which appear to occur along former bedding planes, or maybe the schistosity of the schist or the foliations of the gneiss. I'd say it's old, pre-Permian Age, probably Ordovician or Silurian (wild ass guess - only partially accurate if the rocks from the CT-NY area). There appears to be some isoclinal folds in the right specimen, so that rock has been beat up. There appears to be some crenulation of the schistosity as well, meaning more than one collisions from diffeent orientations formed that rock.

Hope that helps.

It does help alot, thanks! I'm actually in your neck of the woods, east side of Conn.

thanks again.

The one on the right was lodged into an old stone wall behind the aforementioned Indian head. The larger rock was located underneath another rock that forms the prophecy rock formation on my property. It was about a foot deep underneath this rock.

Greenworm - Hopi territory, and traditional areas are not short on strange rocks. I could have a huge web site about the strange rocks around here. This is sort of Navajo/Hopi/Yavapai/Havasupai/Hualapai etc area.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('golem', 'I')s it coincidental that by studying the bad bad bad swastika I have penetrated a truth that connects the archetype of DNA representing the microcosmic universe, representing a starting point, which effectively MIRRORS the grand cycle called Precession of the Equinoxes representing another cycle within the macrocosmic universe.

I_Like_Plants, per chance are you close to the Hopi cause I got be honest, I am dying to know something and I am from the east. If you have an interest in this it would be a great help. I am looking for coordinates of the prophecy rock. You know the 5 stones that the figure is pointing in the petroglyph. My thinking is that these stones are close to the petroglyph and I NEEED coordinates. My five stones line up W to N on the dot, but that is probably partly determined by my location. I will even send you a free compass. Please, please, pretty please.

Oh and there was the cycle of the mineral, that is why I am asking about those stones, just trying to get a grasp as to this meaning. Chances are the stones mean nothing, chances are they could mean everything. I have the when, the where, now I am just missing the WHAT.

Native American Wisdom

Hi, I found this site: Great Dreams
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he Great Spirit is in all things: he is in the air we breathe. The Great Spirit is our Father, but the earth is our mother. She nourishes us; that which we put into the ground she returns to us
- Big Thunder (Bedagi) Wabanaki Algonquin
"Every part of the earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every meadow, every humming insect. All are holy in the memory and experience of my people.". . . .

Chief Seattle
"There is a road in the hearts of all of us, hidden and seldom traveled, which leads to an unkown, secret place. The old people came literally to love the soil, and they sat or reclined on the ground with a feeling of being close to a mothering power. Their teepees were built upon the earth and their alters were made of earth. The soul was soothing, strengthening, cleasnsing and healing. That is why the old Indian still sits upon the earth instead of propping himself up and away from its life giving forces. For him, to sit or lie upon the ground is to be able to think more deeply and to feel more keenly. He can see more clearly into the mysteries of life and come closer in kinship to other lives about him."

- Chief Luther Standing Bear
The Wise Man believes profoundly in silence - the sign of a perfect equilibrium. Silence is the absolute poise or balance of body, mind and spirit. The man who preserves his selfhood ever calm and unshaken by the storms of existence - not a leaf, as it were, astire on the tree, not a ripple upon the surface of the shinning pool - his, in the mind of the unlettered sage, is the ideal attitude and conduct of life. Silence is the cornerstone of character.

Ohiyesa (Charles Alexander Eastman) - Wahpeton Santee Siou
"You ask me to plow the ground. Shall I take a knife and tear my mother's bosom? Then when I die she will not take me to her bosom to rest. "You ask me to dig for stones! Shall I dig under her skin for bones? Then when I die I cannot enter her body to be born again. "You ask me to cut grass and make hay and sell it and be rich like white men, but how dare I cut my mother's hair? "I want my people to stay with me here. All the dead men will come to life again. Their spirits will come to their bodies again. We must wait here in the homes of our fathers and be ready to meet them in the bosom of our mother."

Wovoka, Paiute
So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and Demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and Its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, Even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and Bow to none. When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the food and For the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, The fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and nothing, For abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision. When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts Are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes They weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again In a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home."

Tecumseh - Shawnee-(1768-1813)
"Knowledge was inherent in all things. The world was a library and its books were the stones, leaves, grass, brooks and the birds and animals that shared, alike with us, the storms and blessings of the earth. We learn to do what only the student of nature ever learns, and that is to feel beauty. We never rail at the storms, the furious winds, the biting frosts and snows. To do so intensifies human futility, so whatever comes we should adjust ourselves by more effort and energy if necessary, but without complaint. Bright days and dark days are both expressions of the Great Mystery, and the Indian reveled in being close the the Great Holiness."

-Chief Luther Standing Bear
As a child I understood how to give, I have forgotten this grace since I have become civilized.

-Luther Standing Bear, Oglala

Not to quench a nice moment, but that is basic animism. Same as buddhism and indian chakra.
There are two realities in the world,
true and false.
Animism never saved anybody, look at tose who used to believe in it, didn't work. There is no power in this religion, but it sounds beautiful in other words it is a dream world of make belief, look at who spoke those words look at their ancesters, removed.
Reality is this. The world was made beautiful, it was hijacked by evil beings and ideas and because of this, and their selfish lifestyle it soon will come to a conclusion. Force, control and power will soon be eliminated. Amazingly by their own force, control and power. what comes around goes around.

Look at the lifestyle and quality of life in Burma (100% animist) and the lifestyle of the native indian and the country india. The chinese serf, all animists, believing in spirits and offering sacrifices to demons, that is what they believe. It doesn't work. poor lifestyle, live in total fear of their governments. Being animists they are cruel beyond belief.
There is no power of good in this religion, always destruction and slavery, but it sounds beautiful in other words it is a dream world
You need to be in protection or you will be eliminated with the rest of evil because evil will be eliminated real soon. Millions of crispy fried iluminaughties will be so numerous they will remain unburied.
Most of the world has said "We will not have this man of righteousness rule over us." Fine. So be it. But sin will not continue, it is getting too bad, the cup is now full,
the cancer surgey has begun.

In a few months there will no longer be a prevention from playing with their toys, and the toy cupboard will be released to the hoards of small minded selfish kindergartners, and they will be released, they have no one to blame but themselves.
Yoiu can only escape if you give up believing in your self and in men and their animists false ideas, or their money making religions. We all have a choice to repent from evil works and do good works but most don't want to. There it is a choice. They will perish in the powerdown, according to their own character, some will go out blazing ak 47's some in gang wars, some raped and pillaged, but eventually all will be removed.
It has already happened in the future.
But some who want to do right and live right will survive. Quite a few actually. They have learned to give up evil for good.
Be ready...

Hmmm... not seeing this in my culture, which is Mississauga of Southern Ontario. Kind of a wide brush to paint with. The culture did live sustainably and maybe were in balance with other natural processes. Does that count for anything? Or are we compelled to advance to the point of killing our host?

I don;t think they were "Animists", look here, there are some similarities :
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us."
Black Elk - Oglala Sioux

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')hen you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living Father.
But if you will not know yourselves,
you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty
His disciples said to him, "When will the kingdom come?"
"It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying 'here it is' or 'there it is.' Rather, the kingdom of the father is spread out upon the earth, and men do not see it.
Bible

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'O')ne of his students asked Buddha, "Are you the messiah?"
"No", answered Buddha.
"Then are you a healer?"
"No", Buddha replied.
"Then are you a teacher?" the student persisted.
"No, I am not a teacher."
"Then what are you?" asked the student, exasperated.
"I am awake", Buddha replied.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he void is no mere emptiness, but is real, free and existing. It is the source from which all things arise and return. It cannot be seen, touched or known, yet it exists and is freely used. It has no shape, size, colour or form, and yet all that we see, hear, feel and touch is "it". It is beyond intellectual knowing and cannot be grasped by the ordinary mind. When we suddenly awake to the realization that there is no barrier, and has never been seen, one realizes that one is all things, mountains, rivers, grasses, trees, sun, moon, stars, universe are all oneself. There is no longer a division or barrier between myself and others, no longer any feeling of alienation or fear. Realizing this, results in true compassion. Other people and things are not seen as apart from oneself, on the contrary, as one's own body."
Bruce Lee
