$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('dinopello', 'I') think rubber bullets come before tear gas. Tear gas is so 60's.
YCCMV. (Your Crowd Control May Vary).
But think of the nostalgia of the 60's. It's enough to bring a tear to your eye.

No, no, no. You need to take care of a lots of members of the public at once.

Can't go wrong with a nightstick though, or baton, truncheon, or bludgeon either.
The new denial system is nice, but there may not be enough to go around.
The best nightstick - sadly, no longer made - was the Bianchi magic wand. Light weight, spun aluminum, with a rubber cover on the handle to absorb shock to the hand. Very, very nice.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ferretlover', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Novus', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Heineken', 'T')he other day I drove through a bad area of Richmond. It was instructive. Some of those people would kill you without a second thought, if they could get away with it and it conferred on them some sort of advantage. There are MILLIONS of people like that, and there would quickly be millions more in an epic economic downturn.
I expect those types to kill each other and rid themselves from this Earth. I also expect it to happen rather quickly when TSHTF. Think New Orleans type breakdowns or Baghdad if the military sends in the storm troopers.
"Fatal beating unnerves Cleveland neighborhood
Killing in one of nation's poorest cities shocked even most hardened
Mon., May. 12, 2008
CLEVELAND - Even by tough, urban-crime standards it was a grisly attack: Up to 15 people chased a man, then kicked and beat him to death on the street. Before police arrived, one attacker urinated on the victim's head.
When the crime-hardened neighborhood awoke later that morning, two people reported a man lying on the pavement, his clothes being dragged off by his assailants. …"
They are out there... just waiting for the trigger
Naturally, I agree with Ferret that Novus's is wishful thinking.
How convenient if "they" would simply kill each other off, leaving an earthly paradise for us normal folk.
This view is quaint and adorable but separated from all reason and reality.
One of the many flaws in this thinking is that it overlooks the fact that many of the normal folk will get transformed into abnormal folk right quick. Yes, some will help their neighbors. But too many others will be gunning for you.
Do you REALLY know your neighbors? Do you know them when they are starving, desperate, mad with disease and thirst?
I like to watch "Cops" and related shows because they give a good view of the huge and growing underbelly. That underbelly is certain to rupture and spread infection.

That's what I would have thought, but you mentioned nightsticks so I thought it might be appropriate for close-in small crowds or individuals. Dogs are another effective method not mentioned.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Jack', 'a')spiration to higher standards
I thought we weren't allowed to do that in America anymore.
I think it points out an issue in today's society. It's related to the shiny new toy consumerism. I think this will change as new things become more expensive and people look toward longevity/quality/repairability and to making useful things out of stuff just laying around. I think in the future people who can turn out long lasting, useful items out of salvage with be revered. My brother-in-law is a master at this. He collects bricks from old buildings and builds stuff out of them and same with wood and old metal. His wife (my sis) gets exasperated by all the stuff he has stored in the barn but I think it's pretty cool.

Dogs are SO five minutes ago.
The hyena is where it's at.

Interesting question. One a certain NFL Quarterback might want to bet on. Who would win, the hyena or the Doberman?
i know that if you pit a tiger versus a grizzly bear that the bear wins every time. The bear has dense bones, the tiger has light bones. So the bear just crushes the tiger's skull with his paw. But a doberman vs. a hyena, that's interesting to speculate about. I'm sure Michael Vick would agree.
