A mass wave of immigration from a destitute Mexico will be a mixed blessing for TPTB. Corporate America wants the middle class to be forced to compete with the Third World for jobs, driving wages to the minimum and virturally eliminating benefits. The best way to increase corporate profits is always to wring them out of your employees.

Immigration, illegal or otherwise, is good for the corporations, obviously. A virtually infinite supply of cheap (or better yet: desperate) labor is exactly what they want. However, there can be too much of a good thing, and societal chaos could ensue, so it looks like BushCo is attempting to set up some degree of control over the situation if, or perhaps "when", the Mexican economy collapses as their oil industry withers. Hence the Halliburton camps and the series of police state laws that have recently been enacted.

I can't see how they would actually want to initiate martial law and a super-repressive police state. That would be very bad for business, and would take money out of their pockets. It seems to me that they're just getting ready for it if push comes to shove.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') can't see how they would actually want to initiate martial law and a super-repressive police state. That would be very bad for business, and would take money out of their pockets. It seems to me that they're just getting ready for it if push comes to shove.

a) Business actually makes money off of the government contracts for the necessary tools to enact such a police state
b) The American taxpayers, and not the corporatrions, are paying for this to come into existence
c) Business has actually lobbied for spoecific legislation or provisions to legislation and has had influence on legislation such as the Homeland Security Act(lobbying for a provision to classify people committing certain actions formerly recognized as legal as 'economic terrorists', which they got).

Big business is actually helping bring fascism to this country. Big business helped start the War on Drugs and the War on Terror, and essentially created big government in the U.S. to their own ends. Don't think for a minute that they aren't making money off of this. $200 billion in corporate welfare, a $450 billion defense budget where 1/4 goes unaccounted for, $300 billion a year in national debt interest paid to porivate individuals who own stake in it and even helped drive it up to profit, an unconstitutional fiat money system RUN by a private corporation, a $40 billion/year war on drugs, a $40 billion/year private prison system, $50 billion/year war on terror, $80 billion/year Iraq War... Private corporations even want to loot social security a second time after the government has already looted it! There's a lot of money being made on the side of business because of the totalitarian policies they lobbied for and who former execs or major shareholders which are now in our government passed or sometimes even created.

If a super-repressive police state can be created to transfer wealth from individual Americans to collective corporations, you damn well bet they will do what they can to get it in place.
The unnecessary felling of a tree, perhaps the old growth of centuries, seems to me a crime little short of murder. ~Thomas Jefferson

Nobody reads and infers anymore. I'll apologize in advance for the long-ish quote from the latest defense bill:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'S')EC. 532. EXPANSION OF ACTIVITIES AUTHORIZED FOR RESERVES UNDER WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION CIVIL SUPPORT TEAMS.
(a) IN GENERAL- Subsection (d) of section 12310 of title 10, United States Code, as redesignated and amended by section 531(b) of this Act, is further amended--
(1) in paragraph (1)--
(A) in subparagraph (A)--
(i) by inserting `in the United States, Canada, or the United Mexican States' after `title)'; and
(ii) by striking `or' at the end;

(B) in subparagraph (B)--
(i) by inserting `, Canada, or the United Mexican States' after `United States'; and
(ii) by striking the period at the end and inserting a semicolon; and
(C) by adding at the end the following new subparagraphs:

`(C) the intentional or unintentional release of nuclear, biological, radiological, or toxic or poisonous chemical materials in the United States, Canada, or the United Mexican States that results, or could result, in catastrophic loss of life or property; or

`(D) a natural or manmade disaster in the United States, Canada, or the United Mexican States that results, or could result, in catastrophic loss of life or property.'; and

(2) by striking paragraph (3) and inserting the following new paragraph (3):

`(3)(A) A Reserve may perform duties described in subparagraph (A), (B), or (C) of paragraph (1)--
`(i) only while assigned to a reserve component civil support team; and
`(ii) if performing those duties in Canada or the United Mexican States, only after being ordered to active duty under this title.
`(B) A Reserve may perform the duties described in paragraph (1)(D)--
`(i) only while assigned to a reserve component civil support team;
`(ii) only with the approval of the Secretary of Defense; and
`(iii) if performing those duties in Canada or the United Mexican States, only after being ordered to active duty under this title.

`(C) Any duties described in paragraph (1) that are performed in Canada or the United Mexican States may occur, with consultation of the Secretary of State, at any distance beyond the borders of the United States with such country as is agreed to by appropriate authorities in such country.'.
(b) DEFINITION OF `UNITED STATES'- Such subsection is further amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:
`(7) In this subsection, the term `United States' means each of the several States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands.'.

It appears that the National Guard is now a North American Defense Force that can be deployed at the President's whim. You don't need fences and camps if your have military forces spanning a continent.

Blackhawk helicopters patrolling Canadian border: link
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'U').S. begins air patrols south of Canadian Prairie border
Last Updated: Tuesday, October 17, 2006 | 12:52 AM ET
CBC News U.S. Department of Homeland Security opened its third air surveillance base focused on the Canadian border on Monday, eroding claims the shared border is the longest undefended one in the world.

In the story, and video, they describe the move as a means of keeping terrorists out of the U.S. I had a strange thought, though. Maybe the helicopters, surveilance drones and beefed up presence on the border is to keep people in, not out.

You know...draft dodgers, asylum seekers, dissadents, American citizens who have decided that the American Dream is now a nightmare. Just a thought.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Zardoz', 'I')mmigration, illegal or otherwise, is good for the corporations, obviously.

Not only good for the corporations, but essential. In the growth for the sake of growth paradigm we live under there are no limits. If possible they would import everyone from every country in the world. Think of how much money you could make! The immigration issue exposes in broad relief that our economy is truly a ponzi scheme. If we don't keep supporting the bottom of the pyramid with new "consumers" it all comes crashing down.

Lewis Mumford, writing in The Pentagon of Power: The Myth of the Machine Volume II, discusses an experiment where scientists are able to hook diodes up to the pleasure center of monkeys brains. These monkeys are then given 3 buttons. Food, Water and the button that stimulates the pleasure center in their brain. At the expense of food and water, the monkeys would continue to push the pleasure button. He follows this by describing inverviews with multi-millionaires where they are asked how much money would be enough? Not one of them could come up with an answer. No matter how much money they had, they always wanted more.

That pretty much sums up how our economy works. It is framed around stimulating the pleasure center of our brain at the expense of everything else...our health, our future, natural systems, peace and goodwill. There is nothing sacred or that would be spared as long as we can keep pushing the pleasure button.
But how the world turns. One day, cock of the walk. Next, a feather duster.

Romans 13 Submission to the Authorities:
1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.
4 For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.
6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing.
7 Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

I don't know if this is the place for an exegetical argument but the theme, when read in conjunction to Romans 12, would suggest that Paul is, in Ro 13, telling the Romans to not rebel or riot in the streets.

Remember that Jesus was the ultimate thorn in the side of TPTW (the powers that were, similar to TPTB, but in the past). I saw this at the GIM gold is money forum hours earlier. Does anyone know what denominations of Christianity are going along with this?

NORTHCOM Plans 5 Day Martial Law Exercise

Unread postby mmasters » Fri 07 Sep 2007, 21:39:18

NORTHCOM Plans 5 Day Martial Law Exercise Wed, 5 Sep 2007.
By Lee Rogers - Intel Strike Contributing Writer

The United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) has just announced plans for an anti-terrorism exercise called Vigilant Shield 08. The exercise which is slated to run from October 15th to October 20th is described as a way to prepare, prevent and respond to any number of national crises. The exercise is simply a test case scenario for the implementation of martial law. Although the description of the exercise is disturbing, USNORTHCOM also announced that they are more prepared for a natural disaster and a terrorist attack after they used their response to Hurricane Katrina as a test laboratory. During Hurricane Katrina, authorities violated the constitutional rights of citizens by stealing people’s firearms and even relocating people against their will. These announcements are incredibly disturbing on a number of levels as the nature of Vigilant Shield 08 and the admission that Hurricane Katrina was used as a test laboratory shows that the government is actively preparing the military and government institutions for martial law.
Below is the full press release from USNORTHCOM describing Vigilant Shield 08. Also check out the Vigilant Shield 08 fact sheet by clicking here.

North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command along with U.S. Pacific Command, the Department of Homeland Security as well as local, state and other federal responders will exercise their response abilities against a variety of potential threats during Exercise Vigilant Shield ‘08, a Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff-designated, North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM)-sponsored, and U.S. Joint Forces Command-supported Department of Defense exercise for homeland defense and defense support of civil authorities missions.

VS-08 will be conducted concurrent with Top Officials 4 (TOPOFF 4), the nation’s premier exercise of terrorism preparedness sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security, and several other linked exercises as part of the National Level Exercise 1-08. These linked exercises will take place Ocober 15-20 and are being conducted throughout the United States and in conjunction with several partner nations including Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, as well as the Territory of Guam.

VS-08 and National Level Exercise 1-08 will provide local, state, tribal, interagency, Department of Defense, and non-governmental organizations and agencies involved in homeland security and homeland defense the opportunity to participate in a full range of exercise scenarios that will better prepare participants to prevent and respond to national crises. The participating organizations will conduct a multi-layered, civilian-led response to a national crisis.

USNORTHCOM’s primary exercise venues for VS-08 include locations in Oregon, Arizona and a cooperative venue with USPACOM in the Territory of Guam. NORAD’s aerospace detection and defense events will take place across all the exercise venues, to exercise the ability to mobilize resources for aerospace defense, aerospace control, maritime warning, and coordination of air operations in a disaster area.

This exercise is clearly a way to prepare government to respond to a national crisis with martial law. This announcement also follows a number of other news stories that indicate the government is becoming more actively prepared for the implementation of martial law.

These stories include the following:

George W. Bush issuing a presidential directive declaring that he is a dictator during the case of a national emergency be it a natural disaster, a terror attack or any number of crises.

KSLA reporting that members of clergy will be used to convince people to submit to government in the case of declare martial law. See the video below. The U.S. Department of Treasury conducting a disaster drill to prepare for a potential economic crisis.

In addition to the announcement of Vigilant Shield 08, USNORTHCOM also announced that they have been using the lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina to better respond to crises. The response to Hurricane Katrina was essentially used as a test laboratory to implement martial law in a city. People were forced to relocate against their will and authorities stole people’s firearms in the name of safety despite these actions being entirely unconstitutional.

From USNORTHCOM:

“Hurricane Katrina’s impact on this country was unprecedented. There are still many of our fellow Americans whose lives still haven’t returned to normal,” said Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and USNORTHCOM. “It will take many years for the Gulf Coast to fully recover.

“The United States military was deeply involved in the response to the hurricane and subsequent flooding,” Renuart said. “While our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines helped thousands of people, we also learned many lessons.”

According to Renuart, USNORTHCOM has been using the lessons learned from Katrina to modify plans to respond to both natural disasters and potential terrorist actions.

Northern Command also admits in the same article that they have pre-scripted mission assignments coordinated with FEMA to implement martial law under the pretext of disaster response.

From USNORTHCOM: USNORTHCOM is ready to help federal, state and local officials to be prepared for a major hurricane and to be successful at conducting response operations, if necessary and requested by the primary responding agency. Some of the ways these objectives are being achieved are:

Through State Engagement programs, USNORTHCOM provides planning support to help states prepare for emergencies. USNORTHCOM and its subordinates, as well as local, state and federal partners conduct major disaster exercises to refine processes and apply lessons learned. Working with FEMA, USNORTHCOM has prepared pre-scripted mission assignments to accelerate the disaster response process.

USNORTHCOM conducted a major exercise with the National Guard in May to refine the interface between the National Guard and DoD.

There is no question that Vigilant Shield 08 is either government preparation for the implementation of martial law or a way for criminal elements within the government to distract emergency responders in order to conduct a false flag terror attack as a pretext to actually implement martial law and engage in foreign war. On September 11th, 2001 there were drills run by NORAD including Vigilant Guardian which served as a way to ensure that there was no adequate military response to the hi-jacked planes. A similar scenario unfolding with Vigilant Shield is not out of the question. link

Excellent info my man. Gives some credence to the claims of those who lived in NO and said that they heard explosions prior to the masive flooding does it not? I mean, a laboratory is not a laboratory unless all elements are controlled and isolated.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')n addition to the announcement of Vigilant Shield 08, USNORTHCOM also announced that they have been using the lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina to better respond to crises.
Two Years Ago: The post-Hurricane Katrina disaster revisited
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')wo years ago, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita slammed into the southern Gulf coast of the United States, providing a convenient crisis for a criminal pillage of New Orleans, and militarization of the region. What remains unaddressed, but fully corroborated by the eyewitness testimony of survivors, is the fact that in the immediate aftermath of the storms, the Bush administration, in conjunction with state and local authorities:
1. allowed New Orleans and adjoining areas to fall into anarchy, leaving storm victims isolated and in danger of violence
2. turned New Orleans into a police state, teeming with armed troops and mercenaries from Blackwater USA
3. deliberately withheld and blocked relief and federal assistance
4. ethnically cleansed large portions of the African-American population, through various means, from “evacuation” and “relocation” to cold-blooded murder
5. seized political control of the oil-rich (but once inconveniently African-American) South...

The many civilians trying to help were shocked at what they saw. These drills are designed to condition the civil servants (and clergy) who will help implement martial law when it comes. The military drones will do what they have been programmed to do. Yeah, I think everything will be under control. The resistors will be dispatched rather quickly. The really dangerous homeland terrorists will get the Rex 84 treatment for their troubles. This gets no media coverage for the obvious reason that you don't go stirring up the cattle before the slaughter if you can avoid it

I had strange experience today. While waiting in line to check out at Wal-Mart I got blasted(mildly put) with a ready.gov ad from Wal-Mart's in-store commercial channel. Showed Dad instructing mom and the kids on what to do "if". I chalked it up to me being overly sensitive.

Turns out ready.gov is running a full blown marketing blitz for "National Preparedness Month " with Home Depot, Costco, and Sam's. OK Mr/Mrs Consumer, here are your marching orders. link
