$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')s a hybrid still considered "earth-friendly" if its going 100 mph, or is it emitting amounts of pollution similar to a truck or SUV going 55mph?
The worst fuel economy which the folks at Mulholland Raceway have been able to obtain with one were just shy over 35 mpg, and that included plenty of 90-105 mph aggressive driving on the highway.
Air drag force varies as a square of the velocity and power to overcome air drag varies as a cuve of the velocity. Accounting for a better engine operating point from increased load at higher speeds, the math on this figure really works out.

Yeah, if you were willing to take the effort to go out and get it yourself. With the method by which databases are currently used, that is now gone. The fact that records used to be kept on paper with few(if any) duplicates ever made allowed far more privacy than anything we have today.
There is all this talk about everyone having to take responsibility for their actions by our politicians, corporate executives, and military leaders, yet they show in comparison a lack of responsibility for the damage caused by their own misuse and abuse of these records kept, even when this misuse happens to be the root cause of problems many people experience in their lives and problems society faces.
It would not surprise me in the least if the lack of privacy and trust is the root cause of so many personality disorders found within my generation. People need to be people, not industrial equipment. When people realize how they are truly being treated and exploited, it should not surprise anyone when they go out and committ massacres of innocent people or decide to game the system by becoming criminals themselves.
Too bad. Here's to hoping some of the fallout finally affects those who are directly responsible for keeping society focused on this dangerous status quo.
No, making people take meds does not solve the root cause of the problem.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he U.S. doesn't have secret courts, secret detention and secret trials of US citizens.....
Heh. The INS already has had all three. And that's just the INS, nevermind the CIA, NSA, HSA and other bureacracies. I won't even bother wasting my time delving into two or three more publically accessable examples of these things: I could write a 50 page essay on this matter with the facts to prove it.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 't')he U.S. constitution mandates that all legal and judicial proceedings done openly in public in order to protect US citizens from government abuse.

The INS doesn't have jurisdiction over American citizens, except for criminals who are criminally involved with trafficking illegal aliens.
The full suite of protections given to American citizens under the US Constitution are not automatically extended to enemy soldiers in a war or to POWs or others captured in a war or to illegal aliens who break our laws by crossing our borders or even to US citizens who are felons.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ronny88', 'H')ey there,
I am looking to buy my first hybrid car, but have really no idea about where to go for the best infromation. Frankly, the more general the information, the better - as I really have no clue what I'm doing! The only resource on hybrids and other fuel-efficient cars that I've found that is as general as I would like is
http://fuelfriendlycars.com but I would like some other hybrid car resources as well. Any suggestions? Thanks -
Ronny
IMO and by far a lot of people disagree with me on this, but if you insist on a hybrid stay away from the GM models, they are less of a price jump but far less of a MPG improvement. I would stick with Honda or Toyota, but thats because I am interested in quality over quantity.
Realistically you are better off buying a 10 year old honda/toyota and having your trusted mechanic do a full bumper to bumper workover on it, it won't cost nearly as much and the fuel savings compared to an SUV are tremendous.
