$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ardalla', 'S')adly it never seems to get much better. I grew up with people who thought Eisenhower was a communist (Birchers) and George Wallace was the savior of civilization.
You would think that, with more and more people getting college educations, the level of knowlege would be higher.
Ever listen to "Jay Walking" on the Tonight Show?
I should take a poll at work: In what direction does the sun rise in the morning? I'll bet at least 20% of the people would not know.
God knows what I would get if I asked how many moons does the earth have?

LOL, I do astronomy "outreach" to local schools, and they (the kids) are usually quite well informed. We have a "professional" astronomer here in the Hunter who big-notes himself (I won't mention his name, but he was awarded a prize for being the "leading light of astronomers in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales" and lived up to it that night by using a 10,000 candle-power massive gas-powered light in the middle of a field-full of professional telescopes - well, he wanted a cuppa coffee!) - well, this guy is reputed to have not been able to find the Moon on a clear night.
The standing joke is that he can't find the Sun because it's not bright enough. Nasty guy, too.
But I'd like to ask - "professional" astronomers aside - can we really blame people who are the debased product of the Politically Correct Dumbed-Down "edyycay-shun" system for not knowing things?
Sure that don't make 'em any the less dangerous, and yep, they will shoot the messanger, if the message is presented in any way that does not reflect on their "hip pocket".
What do I mean? Simple - these guys (who're idiots) still like to save money - or appear to.
Now, if I was talking to such, I'd put it along the lines of "Hey, there's a price-rise coming in fuel, soon, you should fill up, now..." That way you'll gain credibility.
If the dopes wanna get into an argument with you (some do) all you have to say (to counter them) is to ask them (in a VERY public place, preferrably) why, if they don't want to save money, why they don't want others to?
Then, before they can answer, turn on your heel and walk away.
The NEXT time they "have a go at you", it'll be a lot more subdued, and you can point out that said loud-mouth wasn't interested before, and so why would you want to waste time giving information that the loud-mouth doesn't want to know...(once again, loudly and in public, please use no swear-words (that's difficult, I know) and use the "more in sympathy-than-anger" approach (extra difficult, I know) ) ...????
It works, but you have to have the emotional impregnability of a statue, and never EVER get angry.
The moment someone can make you angry, they've got emotional control over you. This is why the rants we all endure here on the Internet (and the goading that produces them) is doubly destructive.
