Here is a link to a Fox News Poll that shows 50% of people voting think we are heading into an energy crisis with gas lines. HA!

The poll is to the right, half way down the page.

Gas lines? Only in Hawaii due to their insane price caps.

As long as they don't cap the prices here, gas will still be on sale...just for too much for most people to afford. :x

I think gas lines are possible. If wide spread panic sets in.

My Sister heard a rumor that gas was going to go to 3.00 a gallon at our local convince store chain. And she heard it from her friend who's brother works at said store. No really it is true.

This rumor really happened, my point is people are set to freak right now. Hurricanes and terrorist and if we see a major price jump to 80 dollars a barrel the gas stations will be emptied before they can raise their prices.

People will rush out to fill there tanks as if they will never have to fill them again.

Are there EPA-approved underground gasoline storage tanks for backyards? If not, I'm sure somebody will invent them, if only for hoarding 1,000 gallons of gas at a time.

What worries me more is what the politicians will do to "solve the problem" of high gas prices. I doubt any of their solutions will include drastic CAFE standards or a 55 mph speed limit or massive funding for alternative fuels and power supplies...

Instead, they'll probably do something counterproductive...like fuel price caps. :-x

Or invade Venezueala...

John Titor said to get a bicycle, bicycle repair kit, and extra tires. And to build up your endurance.

I am shopping for bicycles and a scooter.

The cost of installation and compliance with regulations, not to mention the chance of a leak affecting your property eventually, should be weighed into that decision. nothing like a million dollar cleaup to ruin your day and make your property unmarketable.

Fiberglass.

But... In most places, State Statutes are prohibitively stringent and often stricter than EPA's Code. UST leak clean up insurance, as far as I know, is required and would put quite a dent in the family budget.

Things can change. Should actually get a quote on this, fully installed, turn-key and see what kind of bureaucratic paperwork demons come out of the woodwork.

Would courts hold homeowners or banks to the same level of CERCLA liability that 'companies' are held to?

Not hard to imagine the carnage coming out of the Title 40 hammermill if the "Regulated Community" was expanded to include everyone with a pulse. How much red can two eyeballs see?

Disel can be stored in rural areas and they are quite common in the US.

Of the 53% expecting an energy crisis with "gas lines", I suspect the vast majority think it is all about price gouging.
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Gasoline is designed for cradle-to-grave of about six weeks. In normal use, it is seldom stored for longer than that, however, it has enough stability so storage for a year is not a problem.

Gumming up carburetors and the formation of varnish or shellack is a big issue if left too long in a gas tank.

We have a thread here:

How long can gasoline be stored?

Fox news story about Peak Oil

Unread postby baldwincng » Fri 28 Apr 2006, 16:15:21

interesting.....oil is running out

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,193624,00.html

Then says that the world is concerned about Iran and nuclear...
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,193576,00.html

seems clear that US cannot do anything about it because of its need for oil....surely someday, someone in the White House will work out that there may be a link between oil demand in US and the price...maybe the US needs to use a bit less...

From the UK, Fox News always looks a bit wacky, here's a good one - blame the environmentalists!!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,193487,00.html

Its a mad mad world

wow... if FOX NEWS is reporting on this, I take it as a bad omen. My personal opinion -- we're at/past peak.

Is there such a thing as "peak doomerosity"?

If Fox is running this type of article, I guess we should sit-up and take notice.
