Wow. I do believe we're through the looking glass here, people. The 700 Club and Fox News report on PO and get their facts straight (pretty much) while CNN et al. dance around the issue...

I wonder if O'Reilly reads the National Review sitting on a sawdust toilet...

If Fox is running this type of article, I guess we should sit-up and take notice.

Since Fox News is Bush and Cheney's only news source, perhaps they'll finally "get it." Ha.

They may recognize a problem, but they will never truly 'get it'.

I can just see it now; " A FAUX news poll asks: Should we go to war with Iran to fight peak oil and lower gas prices?" "92% of our respondants say YES!"

Well the article is good regardless of where it came from.

It is one of the better mainstream articles that I have seen. IT sites the Hirsch report which is one of the best documents about PO.

Agreed.

It is totally shameful that this propaganda tool is miles ahead of our local so called "quality media" regarding PO-awareness.

I have yet to read a single article here which mentions PO without dismissing it immediately, for the sake of "fair and balanced" reporting. The only thing I hope for that if this goes mainstream in the USA our usual copycat sheeple will take it serious at least after a while...

And finally, the phrase "Peak Oil" is used in mainstream news! Hopefully when we start bombing Iran next week, to protect the [s]dollar hegemony[/s], um, world from a nuclear threat, Peak Oil will become a major story!

Now I can put away my tinfoil hat and walk amongst the unwitting masses with my head held high. I swear, for the past few years, everyone thought I had a Cassandra Complex going.

There it is then, we are having fuel problems NOT because we increased our oil consumption 4 times since 1970, but because the greens hijacked our fuel policy.

I knew it! ':)'

From what I can tell, Fox reporters didn't actually write the story.

They seem to have picked it up from a News Service, LiveScience.
http://www.livescience.com/

What probably happened is that an editor for Fox thought the story was interesting, and picked it up. Probably this isn't the result of a conscious policy decision from on high. (But who knows for sure?)

In contrast, UPI and Washington Times have been running energy stories, mostly from the angle of national security - "we need to cut our dependence on foreign oil".

I love fox news

Postby Gridlock » Sun 13 Aug 2006, 19:21:59

Just in on fox news, regarding latest terrorist plot: ‘The British working class neighbourhoods represent a threat to American national security’. I love this channel, the terrorism threat on the ticker tape just seems to get higher everyday. The rhetoric becomes ever more absurd, yet I have to keep tuning in. Anyone else experience these symptoms?

What do you expect? This is the same channel with O'Reilly and Hannity.

And yes, I watch simply for their complete bias. It's quite funny actually.

I wish I could say yes. I feel my right wing creditionals may be jeoperdized; but I rarely watch any TV, foxnews included. CNN/Fox/MSNBC are all pretty funny when I do give them a brief view...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Gridlock', 'â')€˜The British working class neighbourhoods represent a threat to American national security’.

The French Aristocracy said something similar in 1789 about their working class neighbourhoods. :)

Does this mean that the UK is now formally part of the Axis of Evil and harbouring terrorists?

To me, I don’t think your ideology is represented by Fox news (you may beg to differ). But I do believe that turning off the set is a good thing, unfortunately I don’t think that helps the fox indoctrinated.

love or hate fox it does not matter the target of the planed attacks was american airliners flying from london to america, and i think a fair few of the passengers would have been yanks
they planed to hit 9 or 1 planes with around 250 passengers on each plan if half were americans that would be over 1000 dead americans

Personally, and this maybe wishful thinking, but I don’t think the ‘let them eat cake’ reference is too far off. Unfortunately, we haven’t got the movement that I think is very gradually forming in the US to make it a reality.

I don’t disagree. We both want to stop it though right? The point I’m making is that Fox will forever focus on the effects, not the cause. Wherever that leads. I don't like Islam fundamentalists, certain factions in the Western world do.

How about "I don't like religious, economic or political fundamentalists".

Then at least we can avoid hypocrisy.
