$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Sixstrings', 'H')m, quite a selection they have. How does that work out cost per calorie wise? Looks like good prices, maybe they're selling out because some folks are buying these for food now rather than stocking up.
EDIT: got my calculator out.. that dinner pack works out to 31 cents per serving.
That's interesting. At those prices, I wonder if some basic restuarants, such as all you can eat buffets and greasy spoon places may be utilizing this stuff. It has to be easier to transport than fully hydrated veggies, for example.
I suppose the key question is whether taste/texture can be reasonably well preserved through the freeze drying process.
I worked in a (bad) all you can eat buffet for a couple years, in the late 70's BEORE American's got fat in droves. Back then, management was obsessive about food costs, which were generally in the low 40%'s of total cost, if memory serves (I helped with the books for awhile, having a high school education and all...)
With huge percentages of super-obese folks shoveling staples down by the TRUCKLOAD in such places, I can only imagine the pressure to maintain low food costs.
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.
