“We Do Not Seek War,” Says President Who Just Started A War

Public Policy

President Trump has been steadfastly assuring the world that the United States government does not wish to start the war it has already started by assassinating Iran’s top general.

“We are a peace-loving nation and my administration remains firmly committed to establishing peace and harmony among the nations in the world,” Trump said in a speech at his luxury Mar-a-Lago getaway on Friday. “We do not seek war, we do not seek nation-building, we do not seek regime change, but as president I will never hesitate to defend the safety of the American people.”

“We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war,” the president added.

To be clear, in no way is any part of this a thing. Assassinating a nation’s most senior military official, and then claiming that you do not wish to start a war with that nation, is not a thing.

America is at war with Iran currently. What that war will end up looking like is anyone’s guess right now, but there is no question that a war has been initiated. If any nation had assassinated a top US general via airstrike and then openly admitted to it, the US would immediately be at war with that nation. Without question. An extreme military retaliation would be in the works within minutes of the announcement, and the entire political/media class would fully support that retaliation in whatever form it took.

This may come as a surprise to some Americans, but that same principle holds true for other nations as well.

“His departure to God does not end his path or his mission, but a forceful revenge awaits the criminals who have his blood and the blood of the other martyrs last night on their hands,” Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a statement on Friday.

And, I mean, of course. Of course “forceful revenge” from Iran is in the mail. Only by the most bizarre American exceptionalist mental contortions could this not be blindingly obvious. The question isn’t if Iran will retaliate with extreme force, but when and where. Nobody with any functioning matter between their ears would expect anything else.

And of course the US government is now spouting completely unsubstantiated claims about General Qassem Soleimani, and of course the mass media are uncritically repeating those claims as fact, and of course the propagandized masses are regurgitating what their perception management screens have told them to believe. Trump administration officials are claiming without any evidence at all that Soleimani was plotting “imminent attacks on American diplomats and military personnel”, even going so far as trying to marry him to the 9/11 attacks and a host of other unsubstantiated excuses.

Anyone who believes any of this is a brainwashed imbecile. Because of the US government’s extensive history of lying to manufacture support for preexisting military agendas, the only sane response to unsubstantiated US government claims about targeted nations is absolute skepticism. That skepticism should remain in place until mountains of independently verifiable proof of the claims made has been provided. This is the only acceptable level of evidence that critical thinking permits in a post-Iraq invasion world.

This should be extremely obvious to everyone. The fact that it isn’t is the result of generations of increasingly sophisticated propaganda manipulating the way people think about war, what it is, and how it works. My social media notifications are currently flooded with Trump supporters assuring me that Soleimani was a “bad guy” and Trump is therefore a “good guy”, and that assassinating the top military official of a sovereign nation is a perfectly sane and acceptable thing for a government to do.

Don’t do this. Don’t advance war propaganda narratives for the US government.

Those who spread war propaganda are participating in that war just as much as those who actually go and fight in it, only they’re playing a far safer, far more cowardly, and far more dishonest role. A man who flies to Iran and murders Iranians with firearms is at least engaging in the war in a way that he will have to grapple with existentially for the rest of his life. A man who regurgitates Fox News propaganda on Twitter will then eat a pizza, have a wank, go to bed and sleep like a baby. But they both facilitated mass murder based on lies and American supremacist imperialism.

The war that Trump has started must be opposed forcefully and aggressively. Do everything you can to wake people up to what’s going on. This could get very, very ugly.

I’m going to keep following this important story and publishing regular updates as it unfolds. I encourage everyone else to pay close attention to it as well. Trump’s war with Iran should be front and center for everyone who cares about humanity.

“The Invisible, and Growing Ecological Footprint of Digital Technology”
    https://tinyurl.com/ye2znouu resilience

“Limits to technology? Studies suggest as little as 5% of mobile phones are recycled; and of all electronic waste in general{5} it is estimated that only 16% is properly recycled{15}. What this means is all digital technologies are subject to the same ‘limits to growth’ issue that govern human society in general{16} – only more so because the availability of these metals{17} is more limited{18}. This is the greater geopolitical issue limiting technology – including renewable energy technologies – today: Bill McKibben recently said that{19}, “If the world ran on sun, it wouldn’t fight over oil”. This shows the level of disconnectedness that many ‘green’ campaigners have over how renewable energy is produced and why, like digital technologies, it is locked into the consumption of REEs produced through global systems of resource exploitation{20}. The reality is that rare earth elements are becoming the “new oil” of the global economy, and conflict is already escalating{21} over their mining and supply{22}…The ‘digital lifestyle’ is simply capitalism with a higher planetary impact This introduction has skirted many issues: from surveillance, to health impacts{32}, to unregulated data exploitation, to corporate control. Despite this the conclusion is the same. We have to debate this issue for what it represents: Another mechanism of human exploitation based upon unfair global trade, property rights, resource extraction, and ecological damage. The only way to counter the impacts of this system is not to take part; or at least, not to take part on the terms{33} as they are offered{34}. If there is such a thing as ‘sustainable’ technology then it is small, and works at human scales{35}. That is not what ‘digital lifestyles’ offer us today. Human technology, digital or otherwise, is a critical ecological issue inseparably tied to the processes of planetary destruction. We will not solve one without solving the other. That requires us to consciously make our own choices over which, and how much we chose to include these system in our lives – and freedom we have to configure and maintain those systems to serve our own needs.”

  2. REAL Green on Tue, 7th Jan 2020 5:38 am

REAL Green calls green techno modernism FAKE Green. Basically, FAKE Greens just green wash Brown Dellusionalism. Brown Dellusionalism centers around growth in all forms will satisfy human wants and needs. FAKE Greens think we can adapt Brown with the use of technology that harvests the sun and stores it. They think we can recycle and introduce dramatic efficiency strategies to lower carbon emissions killing the planet. They even like to talk about conservation strategies as they fly or drive to seminars and eat in wonderful restaurants. FAKE Green academia which includes our best scientific minds like to talk about numerous FAKE Green solutions like a cornucopia.

REAL Green is not saying FAKE Green strategies are bad just that the underlying narrative is flawed and corrupting. Even with the corruption of the human narrative good things are being done but to a point. There is a point where FAKE Green is little better than Brown Dellusionalism. This point is where FAKE Green growth becomes just another facet of Brown Growth. This is pretty much where we are today. Instead of calling into question the car culture and growth FAKE greens say we can make it OK green. Renewables are augmenting power growth is the reality not offsetting them in decline. The Paris accord winks at China’s coal production which is more than the rest of the world combined as a necessary part of green sustainable development. You know they need coal to build out renewables. FAKE Greens talk about a circular economy with recycling but it is obviously apparent that down cycling occurs when we try to recycle holistically. This means we use more energy and materials to recycle than if we just buried them. We are path dependent if we follow the narrative of techno optimism green or brown this is because this Way is carbon trapped. Growth kills the planet green or brown. Degrowth will end modernism into collapse how quickly depending on how vigorous degrowth is embraced. That is the trap of succession. The planet and its creatures are tipped into succession and this cannot be altered green or brown.

When in a trap you still have choices. You adapt and mitigate instead of trying to get out. REAL Green accepts the decline process both human and planetary. This acceptance than shapes behavior towards localized green prepping. This is hybrid activity of going low carbon with the best of the old and new. It is about using REAL Green wisdom to triage out material and lifestyles with no future. It is about regenerative efforts in the local that benefit the planet but also the human local. Scale is the guide towards a proper footprint in relation to the Anthropocene but also the planetary system that is in succession. You scale to the Anthropocene by accepting to go green and low carbon you have to utilize the fruits of Brown Dellusionalism and FAKE green. The key to scaling of the REAL Green footprint is using Brown and Fake Green to leave it. You cherry pick the best material and practices that can apply to a better local. This is little different from the Amish but for the Amish this strategy is what enhances or damages the community of the faithful. REAL Green takes what it can to enhance one’s human and planetary local with human scales that attempt to fit planetary cycles. The guide for this fit to planetary cycles is the old ways of living with the human scaled local enhanced by what modern science as told us is best practices.

Amish can be REAL Green because REAL Green is an add-on not a Way. It is an add-on because it accepts the multiplicity of higher powers but it says that we only have one planet and we are trapped in the Anthropocene. The trap is as much the finite planet as it is flawed human narrative. REAL Green says live within this trap by adapting scale to the local that allows mitigation of the collapse process. REAL Green is a journey that is withdrawal in force. This journey is an offensive retreat of yielding to higher powers but also feeding off them. It accepts failure of the REAL Green monastery of things and lifestyles is inevitable but the journey is more sustainable and resilient. REAL Green will leave seeds of regrowth for those who come afterwards. REAL Green offers a life boat of things and a hospice of meaning in the journey through the gauntlet of the collapse process. REAL Green is only for a few because it requires education, resources, and an awakening.

REAL Green is not a success story but instead an Irish wake. We celebrate a dying planet and human civilization by drawing on the best of both. Wisdom that triages out the false narrative of modern happiness with relative stoicism, ascetism, and Spartan living that goes with a terminal condition. The reason for this is low carbon with less affluence is naturally a tougher way. The relative part is living within the false narrative of the Anthropocene with a delocalized local and our human significant others. It would be great to transcend this trap but the first order of scaling is acceptance of the trap and then the journey to an end that revolves around embracing succession of the planet and the human reality. realgreenadaptation.blog

Cloggo, PO is part of the decline but really just a sideshow anymore because the real decline is a multifaceted predicament of growth on a finite planet meaning that any growth green or brown is destructive. More tech just makes it worse when applied in a growth paradigm. The techno optimistic narrative you preach is a dead end and you know it but you suffer considerable cognitive dissonance.

“They do not scale up at a time when civilization is scaling down.” “You fail to understand that the self-driving car provides a remedy against the breakdown of the current individual car-based transport system, offering a much cheaper-per-mile, fine-grained transportation system, against much lower energy cost (embedded in the car fleet as well as operational energy cost).”
First cloggo stating a cheaper-per-mile and lower embedded energy cost is a farce when you are only theoretical. You don’t even touch on the systematic cost economically of changing the car culture to self-driving. You have no clue about that because you are economically challenged. Scale says you are full of shit. I am not saying self-driving cars are not a remedy of sorts in a niche as the techno peak blows off. What I am saying is they don’t scale and will end up being a tiny niche and likely where they are embraced significantly, a stranded asset once decline overwhelms global value chains. There is a huge amount of value chain components in self-driving cars all brought to you by globalism. BTW a globalism you are wishing an end to because you have this wired belief it can all be scaled down to white dominated Eurasia which is still an adapted globalism.

“Iranian officials previously said that U.S. forces in the region will be targets, and overnight the Iranian parliament on Tuesday designated the Pentagon and affiliated companies as terrorists. In response, the U.S. issued a warning to shipping in the Middle East over the possibility of Iranian action against U.S. maritime interests, the Associated Press reported, citing a statement.”

“Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran’s foreign minister, said Tuesday that the U.S. would suffer consequences for the killing of Soleimani “at a time and place of Iran’s choosing.” Zarif added the U.S. must leave the Middle East and warned that if they don’t, a new multi-generational war could erupt.”

“The leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, told tens of thousands on Tuesday for the burial of Soleimani in the city of Kerman that Iran was ready to “set ablaze those places Americans hold dear” over the killing of the former commander. Thousands chanted “revenge, revenge,” as the IRGC leader declared “we will take revenge. The revenge will be vigorous and unwavering, woeful, and terminal.””

Christmas in the age of jihad

Jan 7, 2020 7:45 am By Robert Spencer

Merry Christmas to all Jihad Watchers who are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ today.

The question before us this Christmas, as it is every Christmas these days, is whether or not Christians should be allowed to be Christian and celebrate Christmas freely, without being brutalized or discriminated against, if they live in Iran, or Iraq, or Egypt, or Pakistan, or Nigeria, or Indonesia, or other Muslim countries, and whether free people of all creeds and perspectives should defend their right to do so.

In many countries today, Christians are being kidnapped, imprisoned, wrongly arrested, beaten, and murdered — not because of anything they have done, but because they have dared to have beliefs that are considered blasphemous in authoritative Islam. We see this at Jihad Watch on a regular basis. We see jihadists attacking Christians with unremitting fury. We also see the world continuing to yawn and remain indifferent as all this goes on, and weak and cowardly Christian leaders saying that we must not talk about it for fear of “provoking” Muslims and harming a chimerical and fruitless (at best) Muslim/Christian “dialogue.” Those who dare anyway to speak out about the persecution of Christians that the persecutors justify by invoking the Qur’an and Sunnah are vilified, demonized, and silenced as “bigots” and “Islamophobes.” Even some Christians do this to their fellow Christians who speak unwelcome truths on these matters.

So here is something to remember this Christmas: if you are a free human being, whether or not you are Christian, those Christians who are being persecuted in Iran, and Iraq, and Indonesia, and Nigeria, and Egypt, and Pakistan, and elsewhere in the Islamic world, are standing in your place. The jihadis would just as soon attack you as well, and will eventually if they get the chance. Remember that the Islamic jihad program has you on its list. You may not be a Christian. You may not be a Jew. You may not be a Hindu. You may not be a Buddhist. You may not wish to pay attention to the jihad at all. But the jihad is universal, and relentless. And you are on its list.

So this Christmas, may all of us whose conversion, subjugation, or death is envisioned by the adherents of Sharia stand together. Let us stand together as Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, secularists, what have you, and stand up against those who would kill us or subject us to institutionalized discrimination and harassment (at best) because they find our beliefs offensive.

For be assured: if we do not stand together, they will prevail. And if they prevail, then all the richest manifestations of the unfettered human spirit, from the Hagia Sophia to the temple of mausoleums of Timbuktu, from the works of Socrates and Aristotle to those of Confucius and Moses Maimonides and Dante Alighieri and Winston Churchill and Oriana Fallaci, will be trampled into the mud, destroyed, exploded, ruined, effaced. We will all be the poorer. Our children will be the poorer.

It is time to fight for our lives.

    Merry Christmas!

“The Iranian secret service is busy trying to put its hands on the person or persons that leaked the information that allowed the US to kill Maj. Gen Qassem Soleimani minutes after he got off a plane from Syria. If it was a leak…Middle Eastern sources say that the Iranians are totally bewildered by the fact that the Americans knew enough about his movements to find him and kill him. Two days ago an Iranian politician revealed in the press that the country’s security services have launched a massive investigation to locate the security holes and whether there is a “mole” in one of the Iranian organizations that know details of the travel plans of senior figures. The logistics of the Friday strike at Baghdad airport certainly raise intriguing questions about where the US got its intel. Unmanned aerial vehicles need at least three hours to reach Baghdad from Qatar, from whence it’s believed the two Predators flew; Soleimani’s plane needed an hour-and-a-quarter to get from Damascus to Baghdad. Iraqi media have been speculating that this means someone provided real time information on the Iranian general’s flight and actions on the tarmac. That, they argue, would mean a penetration of Soleimani’s inner circle. Of course, if, as we’ve reported, some of the general’s communications were being intercepted, it could be that they knew what flight he’d be on, positioned drones on station, positively identified him and his associates via camera or by someone on the ground, and took the shot.”

It has led and coordinated several major Middle East war theaters including Afghanistan (2001), Iraq (2003). It was also involved in Syria. But there is a problem: The forward base of USCENTCOM at the al-Udeid Air Force base is in Qatar. And since June 2017 Qatar has been “sleeping with the enemy”. Qatar has become a staunch ally of Iran.”

Just give up on that stupid oil empire. Withdraw. We now have renewable energy. Set up a new relationship with Europe and let them carry more and the US less of the burden (which means end of European vassaldom). And accept white-Christian Russia, that would love to be a respected member of global European civilization. THAT alliance would remain the first address with two fingers in the nose.

    https://tinyurl.com/yjw5q3xo zero hedge

“For the last several months, Iraq has considered purchasing Russian air defense and missile systems, including the S-400, however, it has been met with fierce pressure from the US.”

“But with a political crisis between the US and Iraq underway, thanks partly to the US assassination of Iran’s Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, Russia could profit as Iraq attempts to decouple from the US.”

“The S-400s can strike stealth bombers, aircraft, cruise missiles, precision-guided projectiles, and ballistic missiles, some military experts have even said the Russian missile defense system is far superior than the US’ MIM-104 Patriot.”

“”We’re Going To War, Bro”: Elite 82nd Airborne In Largest ‘Fast Deployment’ I

    above not supertard obv.
this is exemplary of use of highly sophisticate high english for higher love of muzzies.

“The older soldiers, in their 30s and 40s, were visibly more somber, having the experience of seeing comrades come home from past deployments learning to walk on one leg or in flag-draped coffins.”

obviously young people are always gungho and older people are more reserved because biology dictates that older people are less energetic. there’s no indication that the writer of high english muzzie love interviewed the soldiers to try to figure out their sentiment. the whole show is written from the muzzie love brain of the writer.

low english would put it like this:
dudes went to war to blow up muzzies. young dudes are moar eager than older 1s

low english is short and factual. it doesn’t attempt to lead the reader thereby deceiving them.

“Fifteen years after the U.S. invaded Iraq to turn Saddam Hussein’s dictatorship into a beacon of democracy, Iraq’s Parliament, amid shouts of “Death to America!” voted to expel all U.S. troops from the country.”

“How can our troops, detested by the PMF militias and their thousands of fighters, unwanted by the Iraqi Parliament majority, the acting prime minister, and much of the Shiite majority, remain safely inside the capital city of Baghdad or the country?”

““Come Home, America,” George McGovern’s slogan from the 1972 presidential campaign, has rarely seemed more relevant.”
