I'm all for the ethical treatment of animals (I get pissed off major when I see someone abusing an animal), but this is just absurd. Everything alive kills something else to keep living. It's that simple...

Hey, I wonder what PETA would say if someone started a group called "People for the Ethical Treatment of Vegetables"?

kinda odd huh? I recently heard a story on the radio about a PETA protester who would only feed her cat rice. It was reported that the cat was starving.

Ya, the PETA people are funny. They used to protest at the county fair when I showed steers. They would confront younger 4-H members and tell them that they were murders. Us older kids would then point out that thier goth face makeup was an animal product, then they would leave. I like to think that they went home and washed it off but they likely just sat in the dark listening to The Cure or something and wrote poetry about the poor bovine. What this hell was that thing in the video... a robot?

"PETA put up a billboard comparing these women to a pig with the caption "Just another dead thing". you want vitriol? comparing a woman to a pig?? I know there are people who still think of women as useful chattel but we are not pigs. We are worth considerably more. A PIG!! I'd like someone to say that to my face (in person of course). You may consider people to be lower life forms, women as sub human, but that just means you are not worth anything yourself. This is a reprehensible, mysogenistic attitude and PETA should be ashamed of themselves."

Wow you are full of yourself. Humans are animals like pigs, we both feel pain. A pig has feelings too. Fuck just wake up. PETA is just stating the truth if you like it or not. Nature never said humans are better than pigs, just some made up rule by humans. And I like being an animal. and I don't think of myself better than a pig. Thinking you are more is just selfish. Industrial Society has made humans so FUCKED up and selfish. We are out of balance.

"Lets talk for two seconds about their bill boards. We've had 30-35 women murdered in a spectacularly horriffic manner, (yes, prostitutes but lets not forget they do provide a service many men require). These women, its been proven, were murdered and cut into pieces and fed to pigs on the serial killers farm. (and yes some of these pigs went on to feed people.)"

While I am not happy they did that, humans do it to other animals too. Personally I don't believe in grusome murder of any species. I am a peace lover.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('FuckPETA', 'I') have never seen a bunch of people out of touch with reality more than PETA.

You might forgive me since my wife's alcholic aunt left her $3 million estate to the Humane Society in the town where she lived. We went through her records and she was a significant contributor to PETA. I guess this is what an old lesbian thinks is valuable. If I did not have millions myself, I would have been devistated. My wife was, since she felt like the aunt, which she adored, had thought that mangy dogs were more valuable that she.

This is just a side issue since we all need protein to survive.

Actually, this PETA bunch is a conglomoration of whacos who don't realize that in order to exist one needs to be predatory.

Do they not think that the plant life they consume is as valuable as the animal life that the majority consumes?

I say, that when the shit hits the fan and there is no longer enough energy to feed us that we go hunt PETA people and eat them. Alternatively, maybe we should let them starve and then put a big juicy steak in front of them and let the choose whether to eat and live of to die. What a bunch of fuck ups; too many reads of Banby as a children perhaps.

Au contraire. Peta is the most enlightened group out there. Their compassion for life extends into the realm of other sentient beings and they are absolutely doing the right thing by getting the word out about agri-business. They are also, as vegetarians, likely much more healthy for not eating meat. These people are the ones who are going to survive an economic apocolypse, as they are prepared mentally. I love them.

The factory farm is a horror and an abomination and people 100 years from now will cringe with horror at how their debauched ancestors acquired food. The utter thoughtlessness, the blighted consciousness, the hole in the soul. Yuk. The twentieth century is responsible for the twin massacres of the concentration camps and the ongoing livestock holocaust. We should be very bloody ashamed. And any self respecting individual who can think and/or FEEL for themselves, has to consider very carefully the screams of agony they are responsible for, though they may never hear them.

ahaha I enjoy my meat and I don't give a fuck what PETA says.

I remember in high school, we watched an animal rights movie and I brought a burger from the cafeteria. Didn't feel a thing as I watched cows get gutted.

PETA is far too vitrol to influence anyone but the weakest minds. Their stance is so extreme it makes Hitler look mainstream. Plus, people like me won't give up their meat.

As for animals suffering, it's mainly a byproduct of our profits over all corporate mentality. Killing animals has been, historically, done with some alleviation of suffering. Nowadays, it's all about getting the maximum profit in the shortest amount of time. That means not following ethical laws, because those laws don't have fines.

You guys are going at this PETA thing all wrong, let the smelly hippies not eat animal protein it will push the price of meat lower and ultimately make land cheaper. But on a serious note I consider PETA terrorists, pushing there warp view with cheap propaganda. PETA’s telling me I can’t fish, because fish have feeling and that fishing equals animal cruelty. What bullshit! Wasn’t Jesus a fisherman? Kind of makes you wonder what their motives are?

Meat is a part of our diet, we need to raise animals for meat. We could all live off beans and other non animal products, but humans evolved eating meats and non meat products. I've known someone who kept a dog on a non meat diet, it is possible, but we all know that a dogs primary diet should be meat. Ours is a mixture, and we can't change what we are. In a way I do respect the meat industry, I do not respect the cost cutting and animal suffering that they cause, but they do provide a nessary food group for everyone. If it wasn't for the meat industry, people would just poach wildlife instead.

kosher slaughter is monstrously cruel

Unread postby foodnotlawns » Thu 12 Jan 2006, 13:10:05

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('The_Virginian', 'T')he PETA video on Kosher slaughter is a complete whack job. Cows are big dangerous beasts that take TIME to die. Just cause they move around afterward, it means Nothing...just that in Kosher slaughter you have to let the animal die on its own before cutting up into small pieces (so you actualy see the "death throws".... but the animal is as good as dead with the windpipe and gullet cut with a super sharp knife.
(A ritual slaughterer will check that kinfe on his FINGERNAIL, and if he feels anything...back to the honing-stone)

Have not see the (non kosher) chicken video. As for it being encrusted in $hit, , most birds poop before they are killed, as they are frightened...not pretty, but common.

The only good PETA campain was the "Got Beer" and that never got off the ground. [smilie=new_all_coholic.gif]

I saw that PETA video and there's no way that's not monstrously cruel. They put it in a thing that turns it upside down, then "slaughter" it by removing teh windpipe, turning it upright again, and letting it stagger around, drowning in it's blood.

I have worked in a slaughterhouse and slaughtered cattle the right way, the Gentile (gentle) way, like a Gentile Man (gentleman). That is, a .22 in the center and a bit above the eyes. The beast collapses to the ground dead instantly. Then we put the chain on the leg and raise it up and cut the throat after it is DEAD.

PETA is a terrorist organization which should be avoided and/or ignored. The video Aaron linked to should be viewed by everyone who can, as it not only completely exposes PETA for the wacked-out nutjobs that they are, but it's quite entertaining as well!

a terrorist organization? Hardly, but sometimes some PETA supporters do go to far, and therein lies the real shame, because there is a desperate need for a group that is willing to be proactive in defending those that cannot defend themselves and for people to listen.

SBC, I might get on board if Adolf Hitler reincarnated as a chicken in a battery cage.

wouldn't that be great though? It would be even better if everyone knew that was the program. Think of what a wonderful world this would be. Screw eternal damnation, not scary enough, but the idea that you are going to come back and be subjected to everything you pushed around in your previous life...now that has some power.

Maybe I should start a religion aroung this concept.

For your information, Hitler outlawed kosher slaughter and made very harsh punishments for animal cruelty. He also established Nature Preserves in Europe and supported sustainable agriculture and sustainable population levels.
