Hmm. Can't provide any evidence, so you go ad-hominem. Good argumentation style. Very impressive.

And there you go lumping all "rights" groups into the same pot. You don't like people standing up for their rights, but then you tell people on this board you are here to ensure that someone is standing up for "conservative rights." You are such a hypocrite.

Ad hominems?? Better check your other post. You sure do have a holier then thou attitude for one who throws as many rocks as any other person on this board.
As for YOUR arguments you use a very simple logic.
1) Demand facts
2) Refute facts as either being biased or outdated
3) point out the parties involved in anything you WOULD believe arent a representation of the group
4) Repeat

Pretty easy to refute ANY argument with that style isnt it.
Anyways, so continue to deny the facts as long as you want, I care not. As for why the ad hominems, well, its funny someone who trys to act so superior and intelligent such as you do would refuse to accept any fact even if it was given. And it pisses me off because in typical style you demand facts then disregard them when they are provided. Its like argueing with a special ed person whos the top of his class.

Regarding PETA folks, someone I've known for years got the PETA bug in him. Now he's thin as a rail, and has alienated his family who regard him as a kook. It does seem like a morally refined position but it looks like it can be a slippery slope to fanaticism.

I have been a vegetarian for 7 years. I know of some of the incidents by Peta. ELF (earth liberation front) and ALF (animal liberation front) are as far as i know the organisations to which specop Refers. I know of no incidents from Peta although they could very well have done small incidents of property destruction.

This is the only thing i could find so far:

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which produces slick advertising campaigns and whose leaders are treated as quasi-celebrities on the national cable news networks, has admitted to donating $1,500 to ELF in 2001. According to the Center for Consumer Freedom, PETA donated at least $70,000 to ALF.

I agree with Specop in this case though, Peta has gone way off the scale. I mean they are Against ANY form of keeping animals. even sustainable agricultural uses. I'm against bio industry because it is totally unsustainable not because animals are so lovable or something....

Personally i don't care what you do. You should decide for yourself if you want to eat meat all day or not. I do my thing. You do you're thing, nature will force us to change or to die.

First off I've seen a PETA demonstration where they threw a pail of paint on a woman wearing what was probably a mink coat. Lime green clashes with brown fur.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'w')ithout any substantive references to what they've done wrong. They've run some billboards? Who cares. What have they done that is so horrible to require the vitriol

Lets talk for two seconds about their bill boards. We've had 30-35 women murdered in a spectacularly horriffic manner, (yes, prostitutes but lets not forget they do provide a service many men require). These women, its been proven, were murdered and cut into pieces and fed to pigs on the serial killers farm. (and yes some of these pigs went on to feed people.)

PETA put up a billboard comparing these women to a pig with the caption "Just another dead thing". you want vitriol? comparing a woman to a pig?? I know there are people who still think of women as useful chattel but we are not pigs. We are worth considerably more. A PIG!! I'd like someone to say that to my face (in person of course). You may consider people to be lower life forms, women as sub human, but that just means you are not worth anything yourself. This is a reprehensible, mysogenistic attitude and PETA should be ashamed of themselves.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')His coming from someone who lives in Chicago. Thats funny. Hows your Nanny government treating you?
Fuckin communists up there. Chicaco is trying its damned to beat out Kalifornia as the most un American place in the country. I suggest a slack ass lazy city guy like yourself just shut your piehole and collect your government handouts and stay seated while grown men are having a discussion.

The irony of this is that I am being told to stay out of a discussion b/t two grown men. One of whom, still uses the phrase "pounding pussy" at 61, and the other being an "adult" who starts threads about hymens.

Government hand-outs? Well, I am a student who pays for his own bills and tuition. You lost me on that one.

Good luck helping your second grader on his/her project. Oh, and good luck to the little guy or girl who is helping you to pass the GED exam on your fifth try.

Actually, they've clarified the issue for me. It sounds like PETA is equivalent to the anti-abortion activists who put photographs of a dead fetus on the sides of trucks and then drive around at Democratic conventions, who lock themselves to the front of abortion clinics, and who stalk or harass people associated in any way with the abortion clinic (e.g. guy who mows the lawn).

Illegal at times, misleading, or just plain repulsive. So their actions like this should be treated similarly to the way we treat those anti-abortion activitists.

The folks who provide this information in the above posts were able to do so without lumping PETA into the huge either/or bin that constitutes the SpecOps universe (by generalizing a discussion about them into your never ending anti-liberal rant). Their contributions were well considered and thoughtful.

The Blame Game

Shirley Shirley bo birley banana bana bo burly me my mo mirly, shirley....

Lets do PETA....

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')While the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which has jurisdiction over the applicable animal welfare rules involved, sorts out fact from fiction, let’s not lose sight of the threat to us all posed by animal rights extremists.

I feel really scared of those deadly PETA activists. Damn them. Next thing you know they'll be crashing planes into buildings. Wait, that's already been done.

Fox would have us believe that they'll be bombing Nuke plants if we don't "do something" to stop them. LOL.

And wouldn't you know it: the blame game leads right those g*******d america hating liberals:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'N')evertheless, animal rights extremists seem to have at least one supporter — or at least someone willing to look the other way — in Congress.

Although ranking minority committee member Sen. James Jeffords, I-Vt., “strongly condemned the actions of the Animal Liberation Front,” he nevertheless submitted a statement at the hearing on behalf of PETA. Sen. Jeffords, however, must not be aware of PETA’s connections to the Animal Liberation Front.

How dare an elected representative have independent views. Not march in goose step with either of the bought off parties? Oh the horror.

Fox news is to Washington what PRAVDA was to Moscow before the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Now that's fair and balanced.

From the documentary "Outfoxed"-- "Some people say..."

This was back in 2003.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')MIAMI, FL - October 27 -The Greenpeace Ship MV Esperanza arrived at the Port of Miami this morning and was unlawfully denied docking rights. According to Greenpeace Director Rose Young, "The Esperanza was headed to Miami to take on supplies and to invite the public aboard to learn about the work of Greenpeace to protect the Amazon rainforest. But the Port of Miami is denying the ship and its crew access to the port and to their supporters."

Port of Miami officials allege that Greenpeace is "an undue security risk," citing federal charges against Greenpeace in a case pending in Miami. Greenpeace maintains that the charges against the organization do not warrant the Port's decision, and have repeatedly asked that the ship be allowed to dock near Miami

But the M/V Esperanza (Spanish for hope), a Greenpeace ship, will not be allowed to dock at Goldbelt's Seadrome Marina, as earlier planned.

From all the stuff I've learned about PETA, my conclusion is that they are a terrorist organization.

I believe there was some kind of half-famous comment by a pro-slavery person or somesuch that basically used a slippery slope argument that eventually these people will want to give rights to lower forms of animals (insinuating that Africans were animals..).

I wouldn't be surprised if PETA started out as a joke by the KKK or as a joke and just got transformed by serious people to the organization it is today...

PETA really doesn't have too much presence in the mind of ordinary people... in my mind there are bigger fish to fry and concentrating on ethical treatment of animals before the ethical treatment of humans is crazy-talk...

I don't know about that, often I am more sadden when I here of an animal being miss treated or killed as opposed to some guy that gets killed.

That is probably because I have met a lot more mean nasty people than dogs.
It is a little like how Tony Saprano is, like how he got a lot more upset about his horse being killed than his own nephew.
