For those with a functioning brain pan who can read, I detailed the sale of the old one a month or two ago, and received fair value for it. The other is doing yeomans work, day in and day out, Quiet, comfortable, daily commuter for the wife, no complaints. Now that temperatures are approaching summer time levels, it is becoming even more efficient than it was earlier in the year. It just does exactly what I bought it to do. A boring cage going too and fro to work with running costs an order of magnitude less than any of the other cages I have.

0.208/ kWh / mile on yesterdays commute. Each kWh goes for $0.039/kWh at discounted night time usage, so fuel running costs of =$0.008/mile.

You can't even beat that with your kangaroo.

One many's loss is another man's boon. The neighbor and I are both low voltage enthusiasts and have been amazed to see the cost of large capacity LiFeO4 batteries plunge over the last year and more. $550 will get you a decent 200Ah one, only $100 more than in the US (tariffs pushing their price up perhaps?) He's thinking of building an overnight supply for all but the stove and I'm looking to upgrade a similar Trojan based offgrid system I installed 5 years back. Mine currently charges off a set of panels separate from the main grid-connected array, but with the new systems we plan to charge them direct off the mains when the sun is up and our 10kVA systems are up to speed. 1200Ah will be enough given the depth of discharge available with Lipos we calculate. Just minimal lights, computers, fridges and the like. We're still running the numbers on grid costs overnight and payback times.

None of this would have possible without the collapse of the EV complex and the stalling out of the wind expansion. Powerwalls are probably the big consumer left after what's left of the EV demand but those combined are a lot less than what was planned to into cars. Thank God the people woke up and have turned their backs on mobile ipads.

Well, I'm buying a TESLA this month. Still doing research, OMG watch you tube before you buy, you'll save thousands of dollars. :-D

Pretty sure I'm going to buy the Tesla Y long range Rear Wheel Drive. TESLA is offering a 1.9% 72 month financing. No charge to pay off early.

I am not buying the Full Self Driving for $8,000.00 for several reasons: 1.You can rent it for $1,000/year, which works out to be $18.00/month cheaper. :shock: 2. If your car gets wrecked the FSD is not included in the appraisal 3. You can't transfer it to a new car, or separate buyer. I will be renting my FSD.

I'm going to add custom floormats, a couple of holding trays, roof rack, and home charging station. I have to have the charging station installed. It charges at 44miles per hour, perfect for non peak hours charging.

Looking forward to this car. :-D :-D The best part, I'll never have to drive again!!

The wife has always wanted one, that changed when the Orange One collected Elon and turned him into Darth Wingnut....she became a Tesla hater after that.

But savings thousands? I don't doubt it. My most recent discount on my new Nissan Leaf was $18k. How big are the Tesla discounts?

Let us know how that goes. Seems like there are still occasional glitches. I was in a Model 3 as an Uber rider going to the airport, the LIDAR system incorporated into the main screen was great...you could see cars with it in the fog even when the cars weren't visible to the human eye.

That was a system I'd be willing to pay for in any car..

When was that? Tesla's no longer use LIDAR, Just cameras, with sound added (So they can respond to fire trucks) in the latest software update. I'll keep everyone up to date when I finish the purchase and pick it up. I figure I'll spend an hour or so sitting in the dealership parking lot, setting up the AI. This really isn't a car, it's a robot on wheels.

You got me. The ride to the airport was just in the last couple months, I can't tell their models apart because they don't change enough for the non-enthusiasts to notice. I just know that we were in a fog, I couldn't make out cars in it front of us, but this screen had an outline of the car as we were overtaking. It wasn't like an exact replica, it could have been just a representation, but it certainly knew the difference between car sized objects and 18 wheelers, it displayed both accurately when I could make them out. I assume it was LIDAR....don't know for sure, don't care enough about them...they are quite pricey even with discounts. I paid $11G's for a brand new Nissan Leaf, I didn't want whiz bang...just cheap and reliable day in and day out transport for a decade.

Robot on wheels sounds about right.

Might think about some trickery, depending on where you live. Some people have been targeting them with paint and other forms of vandalism.

True about the Vandalisms, hence "Sentry Mode" it records everyone within striking distance and also puts it on a thumb drive to hand to the authorities. The DOJ under Pam Bondi is prosecuting the vandals as Domestic Terrorists with minimum six year sentences. Oh, you don't get parole. Worse case, I'm out a couple of grand for paint. More than worth it to me locking up some scumbag for six years in the Federal pin.

Indeed. The wife's boss, when she upgraded from a Model S (she kept it, let her husband drive it) got a Rivian. It has the same feature...the only alert she has gotten to date was when she parked in a downtown garage, and some guy activated it when he took a piss alongside the front of her car. She was just glad that he hadn't pissed on the car.

Assuming the normal distribution of intelligence holds, 50% or so are below average, and 50% above. So maybe all those people rejecting EVs are doing it because they like spending 10X the money on fuel like you do? You know, them below average intelligience in the same way you are.

Although if you'd give us the cost of your kangaroo feed, and the distance you ride yours each month, we could do a quick $/mile calculation and see if it beats my EV.

No need for you to confuse yourself with numbers or anything, I can do the simple division for you if you have the data. If it makes you feel stupid, you know, you being stupid and not able to do simple division, give me the location of your banana stamping factory and I'll call around and look for tutors for you. And that was 2024, The Good ol Days. The marketing is selling mountains of hybrids now but they still want to claim it's a "transition" so they call them EV. I swear if people had to actually do more than sign a finance agreement to get a car they'd actually stop and think about it. But when you're spending someone else's money you tend not to think at all.

I doubt the number of EV-only households is sufficient to have an impact on nationwide vacation travel preferences.
