$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('frankthetank', '.').. we can get this whole roller coaster ride over quicker. I think the high prices just delay this thing...

No, you don't want the roller coaster ride to end. You do want to delay this thing until the last possible second.

It is going to really, really suck when the ride comes to an end.

I agree with that, we have been climbing up this last hill on the roller coaster for awhile.

We have ridden all the way to the top, but what we don't realize is there is no track on the other side.

I just don't see how energy hoarding will be avoided on the nation state level, as demand clearly outstrips supply.

Kunstler’s Long Emergency will arrive and perhaps sooner than we might think. The cost of extracting and processing oil products, in energy terms, is increasing ; every day it takes more BTU to pump and refine a barrel of oil. At some point we hit a breaking point, an inflection in the curve; the function is not linear. Oil’s ERoEI has always been declining and allows will; it is as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow.

The way I see it oil was about to hit 100$, just days or hours before, then OPEC had to come and say.... something, whatever, just say something dude.

And then the market was like Ahhhhhhh, no problem. Had OPEC kept their mouth shout and it'd be over 100

But that Ahhhhhh is lasting little because is just words, and words are gone, gone with the wind.

So no matter what they say or what they do becasue this game is already over.

Am I sad to see the price go down? No, I'm glad to get some more time!

Am I sad to see the price go up?............. No

I really wonder what are they going to say nex time it reaches 98, any guesses?

Well increasingly they are saying there is nothing we can do. In my short time here I have seen OPEC go from we have got it all under control, to we can't do anything. Also the dollar was king and the thought that OPEC would abandon the dollar peg was tin foil hat stuff, now? Many OPEC countries are moving away from the dollar.

Growth in places like the ME, China, and India cannot be stopped. They must grow to support their populations and just keep up with employment and food production. Their growth cannot be stopped unless it is hit with physical constraints, like PO.

NYMEX Crude Oil up $1.72

Every week their statements seem to have less and less effect, and they last for a shorter and shorter duration!

At some point we might hear that Iran is a peace loving nation of vegetarians, and they are going to pump billions of barrels and sell to us for $3 a barrel?

Something is going on today that we do not know.

The market may already know the supply report tomorrow is dog shit or the Fed is going to cut.

Something is at play but I am not sure what it is oil hitting 97.20.

Supposedly, it's due to that refinery fire in Canada. refinery fire in Canada. The Houston Ship Channel being closed yesterday might also be a factor.

The dollar is sharply down today. Like clockwork, we see a surge in oil prices.

Although I reported here at PO.com Sunday night (NY time) that the Gulf Cooperation Council planned to devalue the US dollar soon, the news was only widely known today through a front page Wall Street Journal story.

How long will it be before foreign exchange traders see a pattern of OPEC devaluing the dollar, the price of oil going higher, the US trade deficit getting worse, leading to another round of dollar devaluations?
It's already over, now it's just a matter of adjusting.

holy shit, up 3.3% today, or 3 dollars

I bet it will skyrocket up to $110 once we breach the 100 because of speculative positions.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('VinceG', 'W')ell oil is currently back at $91 dollar...

Now be honest...how many of you are actually disappointed to see the price go down again, even if it is a temporary event? How many of you were actually anticipating oil at $100? :)

I like to see the prices going up. IMHO, the sooner demand destruction kicks in, the better off we'll be in the long run. Even though the window of opportunity has almost closed and we are truly screwed, we have more of a choice of how we will adapt to decline now than we will later.

Yes, close of pit trading was $98.03

And just like that we are back within striking distance of $100.
