Re: Example of How Economic Stimulus Will Work (Humour)

Unread postby Falconoffury » Fri 27 Feb 2009, 11:24:01

The article has a good example of the problem. Here's another problem. Even if all the money goes into the economy efficiently, it's taxpayer debt. People whose jobs are being created with this money, are being paid money that they will eventually be paying back through taxes. We are trying to stimulate our economy today, so we can depress our economy through taxation in the future.

Just once I want to see a politician talk about what we can do to better future generations, rather than worsening them. What can we sacrifice today to ensure our future generations have a better life?

Was Coulter saying this sort of thing during the debate for TARP1 which Bush signed?

I don't remember Coulter's stand specifically; but my email that is known to right wing political spam was heavily opposed to any and all of these bailouts and big spending exercises. They weren't written from a class warfare POV; but more along the lines of recklessly throwing money away on failed businesses that should be allowed to fail.

Cattle prods seem to work, we should try them on the banksters if showering them with cash doesn't stimulate them enough.

Stimulus Funds Give Big Boost to Energy Efficiency Firms

Stimulus Funds Give Big Boost to Energy Efficiency Firms

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')t's a good time to be in the energy efficiency business, according to a new report from banking giant HSBC.

Companies in the Energy Efficiency and Energy Management category (EEEM) are performing much better than other stocks on the market, EEEM firms are also doing significantly better than other companies on HSBC's Climate Change Index.

Economic stimulus plans the world over are largely responsible for the healthy state of the energy efficiency market: Over 50 percent of all stimulus funds directed toward climate investments to date have gone to EEEM firms, which in HSBC's analysis equals about US$184 billion.

In March 2009, the U.S. government released the first $8 billion in stimulus funds for weatherization and energy efficiency, and earlier this month another $256 million in funds targeted at energy efficiency, and there is likely much more to come.

Based on the dramatic results from my own experience, I say... money well spent! Amory Lovins called efficiency our greatest untapped source of energy and I totally agree.

Smart metering and other software upgrades for the grid's management of electricity will mean huge savings. Also software that will help homeowners and businesses see exactly where the bulk of their electricity is being used and when will help in conservation efforts.
