I just know his older gentelman has rejected medicare, right? After all medicare is government involved in his healthcare.

Many of us won't receive the bennies this "gentleman" is getting. This is the generation that has insured future generations suffering. How wonderful their entitlements WERE. Now they’ll get to deal with the Angry Young Americans, easy pickings if you ask me. He belongs in the ground now!

Most of the currently retired and soon to be retired have a huge sense of entitlement. They allowed the government to amass the greatest amount of debt at all levels that has even been seen. They own the great majority of the assets. They allowed the government to pilfer Social Security as it was paid into. Yet, these people seem to think that it is perfectly fine for them to recieve benefits from the government while denying it to others, many of which will never get anything back for all the money they paid into the social systems.

I don't want anything passed down to me from prior generations. However, I do want them to pay their own way and to pay their share of the massive debt they created.

Yea, It is hilarious how they are constantly blaming the younger generations for all of the ills of society. Yet the average age of US senators is 60.4 years and the average age of reps is 57.0 years. They have destroyed the world with polution and wars and yet they constantly bitch about how the younger generation just doesn't get it. Most older americans are republicans who don't want any change. They want to keep the system broke and taking care of their crooked worthless arses.

I really wish the government would regulate life after 65. You should only get to stay alive as long as you are a useful productive person. I say once you become bidridden and we have to spend out crap loads of money to keep your worthless a$$ alive, we need to pull the plug.

We are constantly celebrating people who live to be 100 years plus. This is a national tragedy.

To answer your question and retort, I am more than willing to let my life come to an end when I no longer am a useful productive societal member.

1) I'm not 100% sure I'll make it to the age of the guy in that photo. Sure, I'd like to, but between peak oil, collapse of fisheries, general degredation of the planetary environment, etc... I dunno.

2) I don't think it's right to demonize the elderly. If you ever watch those TV shows about indigenous peoples, living at a Stone Age level of technology... at least some of them don't hesitate to take care of old people, even those who are too sickly to hunt/fish/etc. for themselves. With that being the case, it's a shame that modern-day society isn't always that great at taking care of old people.

The US spends 17% of GDP on healthcare, compared to an average 10% in Europe, yet 46 million Americans have no health insurance.
It's no wonder you rednecks are worried about riots on the streets...

Ahhh. Such an intelligent and thoughtful response from across the pond.
If the American people ever allow the banks to control issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers occupied. A large number of those without health insurance are actually immigrants.

"...who would have thought that the sober, deliberative Barack Obama would have nothing to propose but vague and slippery promises -- or that he would so easily cede the leadership clout of the executive branch to a chaotic, rapacious, solipsistic Congress? House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whom I used to admire for her smooth aplomb under pressure, has clearly gone off the deep end with her bizarre rants about legitimate town-hall protests by American citizens. She is doing grievous damage to the party and should immediately step down."

The theory that government run health care will work is dubious at best. However republican opposition on fiscal or philosophical grounds is comical to say the least. During the last eight years the Republicans thought that the government should snoop in our e mail, phone calls and mail, Run a prescription drug program, run our local schools, and give the bankster class 12 trillion in bailouts and credit. Now that they are out of power they have discovered the merits of small government and free enterprise. Obama's health care is estimated to cost a trillion which pales in comparison to what the republicans gave the bankers. To me republicans have lost all credibility as anything but a party of the rich out to help the rich

Questions!!!!!!!!!

#1) Why does the legislation NOT have tort reform to limit medical malpractice lawsuits? Seems sort of necessary if you are SERIOUS about reducing health costs.

#2) Why does the legislation NOT have standardized fee schedules like they have in Japan, where specific treatments have specific and universal maximum prices? Seems like THAT would limit costs also.

#3) How about SLOWING down the pace of the most cutting edge technology in medicine so that LESS goes into R&D for the most advanced treatments (that benefit like 0.1% of the population). Maybe more money could be allocated elsewhere. About half of the increased cost in medicine over several decades has been due to the technology.
#3b) Also re-organize the way medical facilities "compete" so that there is not incentive for every facility to have the most expensive equipment when fewer equipment could service the same area. (that would reduce the overhead costs that get figured into the bill)

#4) How about ascertaining the citizenship of non-citizens receiving health care and forcing those countries to foot the bill? (If they don't like it we can talk about asset seizure or banana embargos)

But what do I know. I'm not a member of Congress.
An ideology is by definition not a search for TRUTH-but a search for PROOF that its point of view is right

At the town hall (facilitated by Democrat Sheila Lee Jackson on 8.13.09), a woman (magically placed on the front row center of the crowd) stood up and announced that she was a physician. Jackson applauded her and invited the audience to do the same. Next, the woman stated that she and her colleagues were very much in favor of Obama's health care plan.

Turns out, she is not a physician. However, she does work for Obama.

Apparently, the president is weary of Americans' outrage over this health care plan so he's decided that it's time to lie, cheat and steal to get the plan turned into law.

So much for these town halls being honest reflections of Americans' feelings and opinions.

A man walks into a Doctor’s office. He has a cucumber up his nose, a carrot in his left ear and a banana in his right ear.

“What’s the matter with me?” he asks.

“You’re not eating properly,” replies the Doctor.

I actually had the thought the other day that the shouters might be democratic plants, brown-shirts in plaid if you will. So Obama gets these guys to disrupt his own meetings and then rides in on the proverbial white horse.

All I know is I read some of the bill and if it gets past it is the end of America as we know it. It is not simply a government option it is a government takeover of the entire medical establishment in time. What would be really sad is if they think it will catually lower costs. It can't there is not money to cover the 45 trillion dollars it will cost for the baby boomers to retire en mass. The ride is over, please pick up your wrist watches at the door.
