Personally I think anyone who believes there is a significant difference between the two major parties is an idiot (flame me!). The chart included certainly justifies my belief that all the Utah idiots who drive slow in the left lane are bringing down the average IQ of the entire populace. Thank god I don't claim Utah as my home state.

The sad thing is how easy it is to mislead.

How are the Green's doing in the States dmtu?

Growing support in Oz at local, and State level but not enough to make a real difference. When George W. Bush came out to Oz to speak in our parliament, a couple of Green senators (Bob Brown & Kerry Nettle) dared to speak out against him. Best TV I'd seen in years. Unfortunately both sides of mainstream govt. still brown tongued the guy.

I am a democrat! I originally regestered as a Republican. I changed a few years ago. I use this as a joke! I still vote Republican because the Democratic party can't get a good enough candidate to get me to vote my party! lol

We I tell this to a Republican or a Democrat. I get the strangest looks. I get a good laugh everytime!

So I'm a remocrat or a depublican?

Maybe my one vote can change the entire Democratic party?

Greens? They piss around a little bit but can't really get much traction. Far too socialist for the states.

Personally I registered as a Libertarian, supposedly the third largest party in the states. Libertarians are full blown personal rights type people/small government. (yeah I'm a crazy)

To me the Repubs have the gun rights but say no to abortion, not that I like abortion, especially late term. I just can't see myself telling someone what to do with their life. The Dems are just the opposite. Problem is they they (both majors) owe allegiance to the exact same cooperations and people because the big donors hedge their bets by buying both parties. IMO, It's a beautiful system gone horribly wrong. I think when people vote in the states it is largely to keep the person most percieved by the populace as stupid or evil out of power rather than because they think they are casting the best vote for the future.

I've heard that Aussies say Americans are only good for rotating tires and blow jobs. So far as I know we don't have the same creativity as the Aussies with adjectives and nouns.

The way Kerry gave in.... tells me this was rigged a bit deeper than most people would care to ponder.

Kerry lost the election. What could he do? This isn't like 2000 where there genuine reason to believe the Democrats should have won.

Personally, I don't think he put up much of an ideological challenge to Bush, and we should not mourn his loss too deeply.

I agree. The Kunstler commentary on the election calls Kerry Bush-lite. Why vote for Bush Lite when you can get the real thing. Of course, Kunstler also points out that the real thing isn't much to talk about.

But for those with short memories, the Democrats controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency for quite a long time, stacked the supreme court, and therefore were the dominant party while the Republicans were a fringe. The Republicans have managed, through about 40 years of effort, to put themselves into the drivers seat.

Given that I think there are financial imbalances that must be rectified within the next four years, it is likely that the Republicans will be on the receiving end of a lot of unhappy people come 2008. Maybe not, but it seems likely.

So one party state? Sort of. The Republicans are in acendancy, but do not forget that what goes up usually comes down.

Actually, it is the official launching of the Imperial Empire of America, and the mask of democracy it wears is all but shot.

Kerry, for whatever it would've been worth, would have at least attempted some diplomacy--tried to work with the rest of the world so they'd more willingly go along with whatever the Empire wanted. The game plan would've pretty much been the same, though.

It's all almost over, anyway. We need to work on working together on helping each other prepare for what's coming. That's why this board is here. So let's do it! People need what we have to say, more than ever!

At least you have minimum terms in office. Our prime minister John Howard has served 3 terms - 9 years- and is now serving a fourth term. He will probably be re-elected for a fifth term if he maintains his good health. A democracy isn't so good if there is only one effective party. The recent Australian election was very similar to yours- A conservative government that lied repeatedly and made some unpopular decisions was re-elected with an increased majority.

For those of you who are out of touch with reality, like myself (because being in touch with it, would drive you to complete insanity, instead of partial insanity) this is how you can look at things now Bush is in office.

United States of America = Galactic Empire

George Bush = Emperor Palpatine

Dick Cheney = Darth Vader

U.S. Infantry = Stormtroopers

U.S. Marines = Dark Troopers

U.S. Air Force = Galactic Navy

M1-Abrams Tanks = AT-STs

F-22 Interceptors = TIE Interceptors

Stealth bombers = TIE bombers

Regular fighters = TIE fighters

B-22 = Star Destroyer

Twin Towers = The first Death Star

Middle East = Tatooine

Al-Qaeda = Tusken Raiders

Iraq Insurgency = Rebel Alliance

So, its a slight variation from the original Star Wars, assuming Empire Strikes Back would start out with the battle of Tatooine as opposed to Hoth and that the enemies would be a mix of raiders and rebels.

Hehe, don't know who the Jedi Knights would be, although considering those long robes Osama wears, doesn't he almost look like Obi-wan? 8O

Gore Vidal once said that the US does not have two political parties. it has a left wing and right wing of the business party.

Now it has only the right wing of the theocratic party.
