The Byrds - Goin' Back

Ahh - played that LP about 1200 times in high school. Still my favorite Byrds.

Here's a rather...different take on a Byrds song: YouTube - Husker Du - Eight Miles High (London 1985)

When I read Cornucopian drivel I start to hear either "We Are the Champions" or one of Dylan's choicest quatrains:

Now, it's all been done before,
It's all been written in the book,
But when there's too much of nothing,
Nobody should look.

Image

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('smallpoxgirl', 'T')here is way too much classic rock in this thread. Must be because of there's so many old men on this website. Razz

Tyler's taking up the slack. Never heard of Snow Patrol! Maybe some more of the young bucks will chime in.

I'm Gen X but will listen to most anything. Quite enjoy wax cylinder recordings from the 1900's. 8)

Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana, recorded 1903. Familiar to anyone who's seen Raging Bull.

"Time Fades Away" Neil Young

Fourteen junkies too weak to work
One sells diamonds for what they're worth
Down on pain street, disappointment lurks
Son, don't be home too late.
Try to get back by eight
Son, don't wait till the break of day
'Cause you know how time fades away.
Time fades away
You know how time fades away.

Jim never saw his brother or sister or parents after he released that album and became a big-shot superstar celebrity. Dad was reading a newspaper when he heard it and the paper shook a bit at that line, so the family reported. Mom and brother tried to reach him but he brushed them off.

It outsold even the Beatles albums that came out around the same time. It was an absolutely mammoth megahit.

Was living in Seattle from 89-2001.
There were so many good bands, the masses outside Seattle only got a taste of it. Then people started to die and well....

So here is my Seattle plug for the day, going back a bit.....Great production and fantastic song writing, Heart's "Little Queen".
