I am still holding to The Chronic. Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg. Rap went to shit after that. I still blast it.
Korn came out and took Rock off the RIP and produced creative blasts like Did My Time, Right Now, Got the Life and Blind.
Clash is up there Seldom for sure.
How about Bad Religions Against the Grain. Modern Man, Entropy, Flat Earth Society are absolutely awesome.

Certainly a great album and probably the best cover art, but the White Album and Abbey road seem better in retrospect. Really, their whole opus was done with such finesse and energy. Magical Mystery Tour, Rubber Soul, Revolver, all great stuff. The guitar solos in Carry That Weight were performed by all three guitar players in sequence. It was also the only time Ringo did a solo. They had to twist his arm to do it and it was short.

Abbey Road

Yes, all great albums, but I had to pick one so I picked my favorite.

As a diehard fan of instrumental music, the most beautiful album I've ever heard is Brian Eno & Harold Budd: Ambient 2 / The Plateaux of Mirror. (What's generally called "ambient" isn't worth a mention on the same day as Eno.)

Eno produced some of David Bowie's albums, and I think Bowie called him the greatest composer of his era in some interview, if I recall correctly.

ha ha! I remember that one well. Use to listen to it driving down to the beach in a muscle car that probably got five miles to gallon. Who cared back then? 25 cents a gallon, with energy throbbing from electric guitars.

I just knew that some young whippersnapper would make a remark like that. heh heh. Listen kid, if this dog'n'pony show goes on for a few more decades, which doesn't seem likely, your entertainers will be old hat too. At least the 50s & 60s acts were the first to steal Black music and take it high octane.

Too bad you missed it. The greatest R&R EVER was back in the 60's and 70's. It was fricken Heaven! R&R will never reach those heights again.

FYI: Most young ppls agree with me.

I gotta admit tho, My Live Concert DVD collection is well over 100 now. Heck, I don't listen to CD's or Vinyl anymore. Give me live concert footage in 16:9 HD with DTS sound. WOW!

I can hardley wait for this bad boy........... Coming Soon to a Home Theatre System near you.

Which one did you miss? Or are there more than 8?

As far as the "best album ever", I have to give that some more thought, maybe look over a few hundred of my favorite LPs and Cds when I get home, try to make up my mind. Anyone else out there still hanging on to their LPs from years ago? I have 2 spare turntables (all 3 are the same model) and a few spare amps, tuners, preamps, receivers, speakers, etc. Just can't pass up a deal, like the 500 watt Carver amp, with NAD tuner and preamp for $40 at a garage sale.

Got Vinyl back to the 50's..........

I'm sick.

Running four amps with (2) 16", (2) 15" and (4) 12" woofers.

London Calling does it for me.
Actually promoting a Joe Strummer tribute show on August 16th here in Eugene..... so I have The Clash on my mind pretty much non-stop!

Hands down. London Calling takes the prize for the best album cover ever. If not best overall album, in competition with Sandinista! depending on your mood when you're listening. :)

Jar of Flies. I like. Some tight selection in this thread.

A moment of silence for Joe Strummer and Layne Stanley. Please don't post anything for the next two minutes.

VM. You and I may disagree about some things, but when it comes to home audio equipment, we are definitely on the same page.

Size does matter...

And the guy who got the the carver amp for $40? Wow what a bargain. I scored a Sansui 8080 ( a giant 70's receiver) for $70 off ebay and thought I got a good deal...
