Dusted off some old tapes (!) to check what was on them.
Cam across amongst other Black Rose with Thin Lizzy. I had nearly forgotten how good they were. Shame Phil Lynnot (the singer / song writer) had to die. Double shame they kept me waiting outside a concert hall for over 3 hours and then took off without signing autographs. [smilie=5censored.gif]

Hope I can add one more.
(By the way agree with Bowie until and including Scary Monsters. After that it is down hill. Cure have got some of the best songs ever, but unfortunately it is just two per album and then usually a lot of fillers.)

Something that really gets the heart pumping while having a few cold ambers with the mates is the Irish band the Pogues.
I'll choose the "Best off" casue it really is a got selection of their songs.

Which one did you miss? Or are there more than 8?

As far as the "best album ever", I have to give that some more thought, maybe look over a few hundred of my favorite LPs and Cds when I get home, try to make up my mind. Anyone else out there still hanging on to their LPs from years ago? I have 2 spare turntables (all 3 are the same model) and a few spare amps, tuners, preamps, receivers, speakers, etc. Just can't pass up a deal, like the 500 watt Carver amp, with NAD tuner and preamp for $40 at a garage sale.

Well, Rush is one of those love 'em or hate 'em bands. For me, fingernails on a chalk board.

I can't pick just one! Argghh...

I'll throw these out there though, no particular order....

Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams
Rage Against the Machine (Self Titled)
Weezer (Blue Album)
U2 - the Joshua Tree
Cheating I know, but Aerosmith's Greatest Hits (1980).
Counting Crows - August and Everything After
James Taylor - October Road
Pearl Jam - Vs
...and curse my 80's sentimentality...Def Leppard - Hysteria

Let us also not forget The Beatles.
