Hell yeah, its dark. I posted it at work as guest since my computer at home is logged in 24/7. Its dark enough to be the theme song for Peak Oil I think. If you have music downloading listen to Dylan sing it back in '62 or '63.

It looks like there's been two covers on that song. One by Nazareth and the other by Entombed. I'm trying to find the mp3's now... I wonder what they'll be like...

Oh, here's another.
Eminems "Rock Bottom" from the Slim Shady LP.
He seems to take out a lot of anger on those that take their lives of luxury.,
ie, one line being; "taking out my debt with this tech", and "when we die, we all going the same way."

The car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
And a dark wind blows
The government is corrupt
And we're on so many drugs
With the radio on and the curtains drawn

We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
And the machine is bleeding to death

The sun has fallen down
And the billboards are all leering
And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles

It went like this

The buildings tumbled in on themselves
Mothers clutching babies picked through the rubble and pulled out their hair

The skyline was beautiful on fire
All twisted metal stretching upwards
Everything washed in a thin orange haze

I said, "Kiss me, you're beautiful..
These are truly the last days"

You grabbed my hand and we fell into it
Like a daydream or a fever

We woke up one morning and fell a little further down
For sure it's the valley of death

I open up my wallet
And it's full of blood

It's either "The Big Three Killed My Baby" by the White Stripes or "London Calling" by the Clash.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'L')ondon calling to the faraway towns
Now war is declared - and battle come down
London calling to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls
London calling, now don't look at us
All that phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust
London calling, see we ain't got no swing
'Cept for the REIGN of that truncheon thing

CHORUS
The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin
Engines stop running, but I have no fear
Cause London is drowning - I, I live by the river

London calling to the imitation zone
Forget it, brother, you can go at it alone
London calling upon the zombies of death
Quit holding out - and draw another breath
London calling - and I don't wanna shout
But while we were talking I saw you running out
London calling, see we ain't got no HIGH
Except for that one with the yellowy eyes

CHORUS x2
The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
Engines stop running and the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear ERROR, but I have no fear
Cause London is drowning - I, I live by the river

Now get this
London calling, yes, I was there, too
An' you know what they said? Well, some of it was true!
London calling at the top of the dial
And after all this, won't you give me a smile?
London Calling

I never felt so much a' like

Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House

There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're travelling with me

Chorus
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win

Now I'm towing my car, there's a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page

Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win

Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only the shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief

Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
Don't ever let them win

I CAN'T BELIEVE NO ONE PICKED THIS SONG YET.

Bob Dylan Like a Rolling Stone
Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"
You thought they were all kiddin' you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin' out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you're gonna have to get used to it
You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They're drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But you'd better lift your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Tool - Aenema

Some say the end is near
Some say we'll see armageddon soon
I certainly hope we will
I sure could use a vacation from this

Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away
Any fucking time, Any fucking day
Learn to swim, See you down in Arizona bay

Fret for your figure and
Fret for your latte and
Fret for your lawsuit and
Fret for your hairpiece and
Fret for your prozac and
Fret for your pilot and
Fret for your contract and
Fret for your car

It's a
Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away
Any fucking time, Any fucking day
Learn to swim, See you down in Arizona bay

Some say a comet will fall from the sky
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves
Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits

Some say the end is near
Some say we'll see armageddon soon
I certainly hope we will cuz
I sure could use a vacation from this

Stupid shit, Silly shit, Stupid shit

One great big festering neon distraction
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied

Learn to swim

Mom's gonna fix it all soon
Mom's comin' round to put it back the way it ought to be

Learn to swim

Fuck L Ron Hubbard and
Fuck all his clones
Fuck all those gun-toting
Hip gangster wannabes

Learn to swim

Fuck retro anything
Fuck your tattoos
Fuck all you junkies and
Fuck your short memory

Learn to swim

Fuck smiley glad-hands
With hidden agendas
Fuck these dysfunctional
Insecure actresses

Learn to swim

Cuz I'm praying for rain
And I'm praying for tidal waves
I wanna see the ground give way
I wanna watch it all go down
Mom please flush it all away
I wanna watch it go right in and down
I wanna watch it go right in
Watch you flush it all away

Time to bring it down again
Don't just call me pessimist
Try and read between the lines

I can't imagine why you wouldn't
Welcome any change, my friend

I wanna see it all come down
Suck it down
Flush it down

Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) :: Arcade Fire

And if the snow buries my,
my neighborhood.
And if my parents are crying
then I'll dig a tunnel
from my window to yours,
yeah a tunnel from my window to yours.
You climb out the chimney
and meet me in the middle,
the middle of town.
And since there's no one else around,
we let our hair grow long
and forget all we used to know,
then our skin gets thicker
from living out in the snow.

You change all the lead
sleepin' in my head,
as the day grows dim
I hear you sing a golden hymn.

Then we tried to name our babies,
but we forgot all the names that,
the names we used to know.
But sometimes, we remember our bedrooms,
and our parent's bedrooms,
and the bedrooms of our friends.
Then we think of our parents,
well what ever happened to them?!

You change all the lead
sleepin' in my head to gold,
as the day grows dim,
I hear you sing a golden hymn,
the song I've been trying to say.

Purify the colors, purify my mind.
Purify the colors, purify my mind,
and spread the ashes of the colors
over this heart of mine!

We Don't Need Another Hero
Tina Turner

Out of the ruins
Out from the wreckage
Can't make the same mistake this time
We are the children
The last generation
We are the ones they left behind
And I wonder when we are ever gonna change
Living under the fear, till nothing else remains

We don't need another hero
We don't need to know the way home
All we want is life beyond
Thunderdome

Looking for something
We can rely on
There's gotta be something better out there
Love and compassion
Their day is coming
All else are castles built in the air
And I wonder when we are ever gonna change
Living under the fear till nothing else remains

All the children say
We don't need another hero
We don't need to know the way home
All we want is life beyond
Thunderdome

So what do we do with our lifes
We leave only a mark
Will our story shine like a light
Or end in the dark
Give it all or nothing

We don't need another hero
We don't need to know the way home
All we want is life beyond
Thunderdome

This seems like a good time to repost The Ballad of Hollis Brown by Bob Dylan:

Hollis Brown he lived on the outside of town
Hollis Brown he lived on the outside of town
With his wife and five children in a cabin broken down

He looked for work and money and he walked a ragged mile
he looked for work and money and he walked a ragged mile
His children are so hungry that they don't know how to smile

Your baby's eye's are a pleadin there a tuggin at your sleave
Your baby's eye's are a pleadin there a tuggin at your sleave
You walk the floor and wonder why with every breath you breath

The rats have got your flour bad blood it got your mare
The rats have got your flour bad blood it got your mare
Is there anyone that knows is there anyone that cares?

You pray to the lord above oh please send you a friend
You pray to the lord above oh please send you a friend
Your empty pockets tell you that you aint got no friend.

Your baby's a cryin louder now its a poundin on your brain
Your baby's a cryin louder now its a poundin on your brain
Your wife's screams stab you like a dirty drivin rain

Your grass is a turnin black there's no water in your well
Your grass is a turnin black there's no water in your well
You spent your last long dollar on seven shotgun shells.

Way out in the wilderness a cold coyote calls
Way out in the wilderness a cold coyote calss
Your eyes fix on the shotgun thats a hangin on the wall

Your brain is a bleedin and your legs cant seem to stand
Your brain is a bleedin and your legs cant seem to stand
Your eyes fix on the shotgun that you're holdin in your hand

There's seven breazes blowin all around the cabin door
There's seven breazes blowin all around the cabin door
Seven shots ring out like the oceans poundin roar.

There's seven people dead on a South Dakota farm
Thers's seven people dead on a South Dakota farm
Somewhere in the world there's seven new people born.

I just re-discovered the best peak oil song in my CD collection. It is a very beautiful, melodic song overlaid with caustic electric guitar creating the aural sense of impending doom.

BATHORY - Twilight of the Gods (1991)

There is a serpent in every Eden
Slick as grease and cold as ice
There is a lie in every meaning
Rest assured to fool you twice

In this age of utter madness
We maintain we are in control
And ending life before deliverance
While countries are both bought and sold

Holy writtings hokus-pokus
Blaze of glory and crucifix
Prepried costly credit salvations
TV-preachers and dirty tricks

Don't trust nobody
It will cost you much too much
Beware of the dagger
It caress you at first touch
O, all small creatures
It is the twilight if the gods

When the foundations to our existence
Begins to crumble one by one
And legislations protects its breakers
And he who was wrong but paid the most won

Even the gods of countless religions
Holds no powers against this tide
Of degeneration because we have now found
That there is no thrones up there in the sky

Run from this fire
It will burn your very soul
Its flames reaching higher
Comed this far there is no hold
O, all small creatures
It is the twilight if the gods

[Twilight of the gods
Twilight of the gods
Twilight of the gods
Twilight of the gods]

Got a song here for all you nuclear Pro guys

Carnivore - Technophobia

You fear change and all that is new
Stand in the way of progress
Like primitive man afraid of fire
Till the explored it's many uses
The power of the atom at our disposal
Yet it called unsafe

Nuclear energy so clean and pure
Your ignorance is a disgrace
Do not resist
It is your destiny
Have wr not all became
The children of technology
Holding fate in a magnetic grip
Of all your irrational fears
The shadow of machinery cast upon the flesh
Blood swent and gears
The robots of dawn offsprings of industry
Stop you in the cobalt blue light
One fell swoop and you've become a memory
Away with your intrusive life

Into the reactor!

You worship a deadman hung with nails
Only a fool would die for the sins of humanity
On your knees before electronics
Lets replace this religious insanity
Tear down the chures instead of thetrounds
Build there the holy reactors
Give us the children science and math

In place of bibles and pastors
You bleeding heart liberals
Who oppose the nuclear regulatory comission
Must be completed to retire
You serve only as obstacles and should be used
To fuel the nuclear pyre

This is a song that got me thinking. It helped me start to curb my consumerism.

Reverence by Faithless:
Watch me ride...
Take the words and the bass,
Taste, and then swallow me,
You're chasing the devil,
Cos you're level if you follow me for quality,
and I make no apology,
For linking my thinking with computer technology.

Cos this is like a modern day hymn
For the new church,
I search for the truth,
I've got a hole in my tooth,
I'm uncouth, yes sir, I'm from the street university
Where we learn to earn - even in times of adversity.
And I would find the easy way out of a hard time,
Petty crime, sometimes,
But now I'm inclined to find - A fresh direction,
kiss me neck,
Check out the funky section,
Cos this is the part where I start to impart words of comfort coming straight from my heart,
I'm not a mystic, my views are realistic, simplistic,
One special brew I get pissed quick,
And get sick so I don't do it no more,
I won't find peace of mind rolling around the floor.

The point I want to make,
is you can never escape from your fate,
The mistake is to take without giving, From within,
You know how I'm living,
I'm cool - I'm looking after myself,
And I could never place wealth before my spirit,
I feel it's unhealthy,
The devil creep around you so stealthy, stealthy,
'Till you get bold, rush the gold,
And before you're much older,
You're soul is sold,
where's it getting ya, Competition starts sweating ya,
Gold-diggers setting you up, soon be forgetting your existence,
Do you need a for instance,
I have to admire your persistence
In sticking to a game plan, that brings you pain man,
And at the end of the day nothing is gained,
So listen to the voice within,
I'll see ya later, Pay heed to the Grand Oral Disseminator.

Quiet still, you feel there's nothing going on
until you realize,
the space behind your eyes,
is filling up with something like peace, as your thoughts cease,
and pleasure grows in your soul.

I aint no Christian, Sometimes I feel like dissin' them,
But listen, I'm just trying to tell you what I know,
if you would once relax, chill to the max, these words on wax,
will cause sweet bells to ring in your soul.
If I say God is alive, I know you'll want to know why babies die, food don't grow,
why Trains smash, planes crash,
situation mash, and slam bam your fellow man,
money's in fashion, huh - it aint rational,
because dammit, he didn't just give us the planet and its wealth,
deep inside your soul he left a piece of himself,
The Lord is in here, his voice is small,
you keep lying, trying, denying the call from inside,
You can't hide responsibility.
So decide from today just how it's gonna be,
Thou shalt have no other God but me,
He can set you free see, but you have to listen,
And who's that false idol I see you kissing?
Money, success, and untold wealth,
good health, and all you have to do is love yourself.
It's a fact you'll attract all the things that you lack,
So just chill, get off the race track,
And take a pace back, face facts,
It's your decision,
You don't need eyes to see, You need vision,
Continue to view the lord as being separated,
And you're living a lie that's being perpetrated, For many centuries,
I want to mention these facts in my rap, I don't sleep,
But I want to share the peace that it brings,
My name is G.O.D.
The Grand Oral Disseminator.
