I can't think of any realistic scenarios in which oil drops a considerable amount. You could say it might move down a little if the dollar stabilizes, if we get out of Iraq, if demand destruction kicks in a little, if the driving season is light...
if. But then again, a lot of these scenarios work against each other. More realistically, the most anyone could hope for is slower increases.
Lately, it seems like the price is tied to a rocket.
The thing is, there are so many things that can go wrong, and the price will move upward really fast: hurricane, terrorism, recession, etc. I'm concerned that the price of oil is in a sort of positive feedback loop, which is really re-enforcing itself now.
But guessing in an environment of this kind of instability is a fool's game.
