If there was only some low tech way we could detect dangerous gases... oh, well guess we'll just have to live with this type of thing post peak.

The Canary is Dead - schools going BK

Unread postby roccman » Tue 05 Feb 2008, 19:10:32

I have watched two canaries very closely WRT PO and its effects:
1) Schools
2) Airlines

As indicators of things to come. Well millions being foreclosed on is not helping things at all...

Good thing us chimps discount the future for immeadiate gain...I am sure our children will appreciate this in the years to come.

We're pawning our children to pay the rent. Sad.

Stop the school busing, quit paying huge wages to the countless administators and quit building all those $50,000,000 schools.

Privatized schools will be even worse!

In districts where all the kids are bussed, the fuel costs are a significant part of the budget. Fuel costs have basically doubled. Also, schools compete with road maintenance which also has gone way up.

In Arlington, where only a very small percentage are bussed, the schools are spending 95+ million on a rennovation to one of the High Schools. They also received a lot of criticism for this, although the school does sound pretty neat

Washington Post Article on W&L HS Rennovation

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'M')y husband just mentioned a few minutes ago that he read some school buses in SC now have advertisements in them. He said the school districts get $2100 for this. Not per bus, per district.

[smilie=icon_puke_r.gif]

This makes me very angry.

I asked him if he knew what the home school laws were in SC. Here in TX it's simple as pie (another reason we're in TX).

Schools are selling out more and more, they're so desperate for money.

Tell us where to call.
I would pay 3000 to put adds on the buses for home school courses.

LOL that would be funny!

This is really silly.

each kid pays 13,000 a year to pay for their school.
and they have teacher/parent days half the time.

I could do it for less, put 40 of them in a classroom with old Mrs Pamer and her ruler and a few smacks later those kids will start reading like I did, and they will pay attention.

cost, wood for the stove the community took turns to supply wood on their week. electricity maybe 2000 a year and make the shool property a to tax zone.

it shouldnt cost that much

oh well.

after the crash we will go back to one book and an old teacher with a ruler and no internet.

Did you made your PhD in pedagogics in Third Reich? :)

Your statement is silly, we have all seen how it works in Eastern Europe, if you want to privitize something for your own benefit, you have to create debt so the public will get to know that "public sector is evil". You have useful idiots in the media to prove that statement, and anti-state propaganda going 24/7/365 :)

Medium class is going to destroy itself by cutting funds and welfare projects which created them... :) and they deserve it.

Many smaller districts in Kansas have gone to four-day-weeks. Ten hour school days Monday to Thursday. Saves a circuit on the busses. They can turn down the heat. They only have to serve lunch four days. Major problem for parents who have to pay for day-a-week childcare.
At 1% annual growth, human bodies will incorporate every gram in the observable universe in approximately 10,170 years.
