On behalf of all our members here at peakoil.com, ASPO, Colin Campbell, Mat Simmons, Pickens, Savinar, Bakhitari, Whipple, Heinberg & even Ruppert, I'd like to send out a big ole' "we told you so", to Yergin, Lynch the USGS, CERA & all you other peak deniers out there.

In your face losers.

Where's your $40/bbl oil now?

Man... that felt good.

The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Just wait until the folks with the large SUV are out of gas...and you get to mock them...and enjoy an MRE while their hungry children watch....and the Glock 22 on your hip deters them from doing anything but begging...and you sneer and tell them it's going to get worse.

Then smile smugly and say "I told you so....trucker."

Toss the empty MRE pouch to them as a final gesture of contempt.

Now that's good, clean fun!

aflurry, I beat you to the little correction... by pm.

I've been spewing forth PO to friends, neighbors, co-workers, fellow volunteers and fellow travellers now for about four years. The response has been just about 100% words to the effect that I am WRONG.

Well, it does feel good to be right. Yup! :)

And let's not forget the modest pioneers, like Craig Bond Hatfield, (pdf), the Cassandra of Toledo, who tirelessly tried to warn the powers that be throughout the eighties and nineties.

Hats off to you, Professor Hatfield.

Yes, the peak oil argument has been validated.

But the peak oil cause is lost.

Why let those losers off the hook at $90? Why not $100, $150, $200? Ok, well, at around $200 the whole pricing system will start to break down, so we can't wait until then.

BTW - Lynch has been saying for about six months the price will go up for awhile, but go down later. So he only deserves an outer circle of Dante's inferno. :)
It's already over, now it's just a matter of adjusting.

The day Fox capitulates will be noteworthy. Maybe soon.

I'm not convinced of that yet. We have had MANY cities in our area banding together to deal with "climate change" and "peak oil." And YES, they are using the term peak oil. They are spreading out information entitled, "what your cities is doing about peak oil and what you can do."

So in my neck of the woods, we are beyond the debate and moving towards action. Of course, it may be too late. I'm not sure of that - yet. I do believe we are past the point of "painless transition" but a painful transition is not total collapse/devastation. We'll see.

I've been watching the presidential debates and I haven't heard anything about peak oil.

Unless "Iran" is a code name for it.
