No, My Government has yet to ban weapons and stick cameras on every street corner. And I'm still allowed to say non P.C. stuff in front of a cop without getting arrested in most cases. I'd rather enjoy my few extra weeks of little freedom and privacy sickly while they work on getting them installed. And If I'm lucky I'll die the day they do.

I watched about 10 minutes of it last night, couldn't bear to watch any more of it. Moore's sensational petty style really puts me off, way too many people crying in it.
Can only imagine what a Moore on peakoil movie would be like.

I'm tempted to get off insurance and pay my doctor like I pay my car mechanic. Some doctors are moving in this direction. You pay for their service outright, just like you would a car mechanic.
Imagine that! Paying a market rate for a professional service you purchase, with no middlemen involved. Unbelievable.

I've been known to make housecalls. You can pay cash up front to any doctor. The problem with doing that at most clinics is that they set up their fees schedules based on insurance. They charge more expecting that the insurance company will pay them less than what they charge. Cash patients then get screwed. Also they get screwed because included in the standard price is the considerable expense of all the staff that are required to haggle with the insurance company over rejected claims, the fact that it's going to take 3 months before the insurance company pays you, etc. What I do in my own practice is give a cash discount of about 30%. If you pay at the time of the visit, we'll knock 30% off the bill. It's more than worth it not having to hassle with the insurance claims. We'll also give you a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company yourself to get reimbursed if you want.

Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act, any hospital that receives medicare funding is required by law to provide a medical screening exam and stabilizing treatment to anyone that presents requesting care regardless of their ability to pay. That is the only setting where anyone is legally required to provide free medical care to an illegal.
I realize that it gets abused, but it's hard to imagine a better solution. You really want the ER docs to be like "Sorry. I know you're bleeding to death, but you're an illegal, so you'll have to go do it on the sidewalk outside." The care that is required by EMTALA is strictly limited to screening patients for life and limb threatening conditions and care to stabilize those conditions.

This was posted in the 6/19 USA Today. Look at that fat tub o'shit in yellow. I'm willing to bet that most of those shitbags are illegals, lined up in the hospital like dominoes, at our expense. Most alarming... 24% of Texans have no insurance. Incredible.
Thank God I stay healthy and rarely, if ever, have to go to the hospital or doctor.

EMTALA covers people regardless of citizenship or ability to pay. There is no special healthcare coverage or status afforded to anyone by virtue of being a non-citizen, either legal or illegal.
