$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('basil_hayden', 'O')ld decrepid people should know when to walk off into the woods and croak. That's my plan, and I think anyone who comes after the baby boomers ought to have one, because when the boomers are done, there will be nothing left.

Many of the elderly are scared to death to just "move on". They cling to life, like a lucky rabbit's foot, a fetish, not something that is actually being lived. It's pathology. If it was up to me, I'd make Raymond Moody's books about NDE essential reading in schools. That would take some of the panic out of it.

Yes. People don't so much enjoy living as fear dying. It's a failure of theology IMHO.

I blame religion for that one SPG. People need to wake up and realize there is no fucking god, and that they don't have to worry about dying. They just need to see it as going to sleep for an exceptionally long period of time.

Pathology is right. It's the pathology of egotism, and it's played upon by the moneyed interests, particularly the medical establishment in this case. But our culture as a whole has created this fear and loathing of death (our own, specifically) as something to be avoided at all costs. It's a shame really; since death is ultimately an unavoidable part of life, our rejection of it actually creates a subconscious rejection of life as well, thus our debasement of it in so many subtle ways.

Suicide isn't illegal; what's illegal is rapid suicide. It's perfectly legal to kill yourself over the course of 20 or 30 years thru cigarettes, alcohol, prescription abuse etc. It's also legal to do so by slow starvation in a "nursing" home (at exorbitant cost of course). The reason it's illegal to do it rapidly is because by doing so you deny "the system" it's opportunity for maximum capital extraction. It has absolutely nothing to do with "the sacredness of life", tho' of course that ironic hypocrisy is what gets played upon...

The healthcare systems in Europe are no more sustainable than that of the US, but on the upward portion of our economic trajectory, they have been more cost-effective. Simply because not every link in the chain needs to turn a profit. Some do, but not every single middleman.

The US could have done better these last few years, by the way. Count up the number of European soldiers in Iraq. Raid that budget, haha.

But it's a bit late for an awakening, rising life expectancies and a multitude of lifestyle diseases have put paid to any hopes of catching up. And ultimately there is what we know is coming.

Can't wait to see this movie. His other movies have been great. I even bought Fahrenheit 911. What's he lied about SPG? And please don't mention how he left out the interview with the one senator that had a kid serving in Iraq . That weak sh*t is soooo played out. Bottom line , if I or a member of my family gets seriously ill I will be financially ruined while people in other industrialized nations could go to the doctor , get treated and get on with their life.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ferrelgiraffe', '
')Can you imagine what the PTB could do if we had a LAW that allowed certain people to be killed?

In Germany they passed it for the retards and the mentally insane, for humanity.
Then they passed the law that the Jews were not human.
then they said anyone not supporting the third reich was INSANE

get it?

you start killing people and you'll be next.

It is also immoral though you may not think so it still is.

Right on. It's too slippery a slope, one that humans have NEVER been responsible with. In cultures where suicide is more acceptable, it's still left up to the suicidee, for instance in Japan old ppl are committing suicide in large numbers these days (Japan never recovered from their economic crash of 1989) but it's still up to them - no Sonybots going around rounding up the old lol.

Everyone, but everyone, still hates the Gypsies. "Mexicans" (anyone small'n'brown and from points south) could be considered sub-humans by many Real Americans (tm) a lot of their full-grown males are no taller than I and considerably darker. Very crude facial features too - but you get talking with them or are around them and you see they're as smart as anyone. Bushmen - not even stone age, their spears were hardened and sharped wood! Australian Aborigines, etc., every group that looks "inferior" to the larger group has been subjected to genocide, including Caucasoids in ancient northern Japan.

The way to limit population is through family planning, have 1 or 2 kids, and that's across the board. Frankly if given the choice I'd limit population among the smart first-worlders most severely, "civilization" is a curse.

i've not seen the movie yet
but i know it contains something on the uk healthcare system ..

i can tell you that the NHS is becoming a diasture. It's sucking in money with almost nothing to show for it. It's on the verge of some sort of financial and/or structural collapse.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ferrelgiraffe', '
')Dying isn't humane by definition.
Go to irak, see the little children bleeding on the street and tell me about human with their leg blown off.

There's a big difference betwen wounded children bleeding on the street and terminally ill patients who fall asleep and don't wake up.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')lso because we are human, and cold and callous and can't draw the line with our selfishness and we will eventually kill everyone we don't like this week.

Perhaps you would do that.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'C')an you imagine what the PTB could do if we had a LAW that allowed certain people to be killed?
:? Uhhh ... we already have such laws.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')n Germany they passed it for the retards and the mentally insane, for humanity.
Then they passed the law that the Jews were not human.
then they said anyone not supporting the third reich was INSANE

get it?
So now I'm a Nazi because I suggest that we should treat our terminally ill as humanely as we treat our pets?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'y')ou start killing people and you'll be next.
He who lives by the sword dies by the sword ...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')t is also immoral though you may not think so it still is.Of course I don't think it's immoral or I wouldn't have suggested it. Just because you think it's immoral, doesn't make it so.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Denny', 'W')e know of a on old couple in New York State who hade retired from a successful business and saved carefully, but found a lot of their savings eaten away when they both had heart surgery. I think in one person's case it ran to over $140,000!

$140,000!!! 8O Wow! That's cheap. When my mother had heart surgery in '05, the total cost (paid for by her HMO, thank God!) came to over $600,000. (Of course, she was in the ICU for over a week [she had a real problem coming out of the anesthesia] and over five weeks in the hospital, but still...)

I can't stream large files or my FAP(fair access policy) kicks in and they choke me with dial-up speed for at least 12 hours, something to do with limited bandwidth on the satellite. [smilie=sad5.gif]

The more I read and hear, the more I hate how the USA is run. Your country is seriously screwed up. Sure, no place is heaven, but it looks like nothing ever gets changed for the better there.

Anyways, I give my support to all of you who fight through this and everything else. Just wanting to let you all know that I care.

Thanks. I don't really care for Moore and I'm sure this is full of BS. But it's always fun to watch his movies. In the very least, it's entertaining and he throws in a few real facts here and there, no spin or anything.

I have wrote some response that is really hurtful to a lot of people in America. I have almost posted it here.

Then I decided that it is too much for some people to bear and so I have decided not to post it here (or anywhere else).

Don't ask me for a copy because I did not save it.
