$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('smallpoxgirl', 'O')ne of the residents when I was in residency had these great stories about the doc he went to growing up. No appointments. No staff. No insurance. You would just show up and he'd take people in the order they came and when you were done he'd be like "That'll be $25." and you wrote him a check and went on with your day. Because he didn't have to pay a staff he kept his prices down. When it got to about noon he'd come out to the waiting room and be like "I'll take you and you before lunch. The rest of you, come back at 1:00."

It was an inspiration to me.

That reminds me of a classic episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" where the main protagonist Larry gets upset 'cause his doctor has switched appointments to a "first come, first seen" basis. He ends up aggravating a broken finger in a jostling race to reception with a young girl.

What does a health crisis look like? See Houston...

Notice how in the article is never says that perhaps the root of the problem is that people want health care for FREE, with someone else footing the bill.

That's part of it. It doesn't help though that you can't get affordable care unless you are having an emergency, but if you ignore things until they become a crisis then it's free.

I did some work in the ER in Flint Michigan a few years ago. Patients would come in and register and then go home. They would call back and check where they were on the list. When they got close to being roomed, they would come back to the hospital.

Well let's see...

Between the fluoridated, chlorinated, chemical-laden water, the preprocessed, prepackaged denatured garbage sold as "food", the toxic air, the dawn-to-dusk-sit-on-your-ass-drive-everywhere-push-button-remote-control-convenience American "lifestyle", the stress of working 60+ hours a week to pay a hefty mortgage on a retardedly over-sized chip-board and glue McMansion carpeted and painted with toxic chemicals and filled with useless sh*t bought with maxed-out credit cards...

Gee, I can't imagine...

Why?

It's basically in the constitution; If the government can prevent someone from harm, it should do it. (if that's national defense, crime of any sort or disease, shouldn't matter)

Don't let society defeat you. Do what you want rather than what you see on TV. Find healthy interests.... get into running, skiing, biking, sailing, surfing, etc. Move to the country and try building your own house and try buying organic food and hunting and fishing for your own food. Don't give up and don't give in to what you see as "America." Make your own America. 8)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Hawkcreek', 'G')ood paragraph. America in a nutshell?

Pretty much...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Plantagenet', 'D')on't let society defeat you. 8)

I know this isn't addressed to me personally, but...

I don't own a TV, running is not particularly healthy, "getting into" skiing, biking, sailing, surfing, etc. is generally expensive, requires a time commitment relatively few can make, and is largely yet another example of conspicuous consumption painted with "healthy lifestyle" veneer, becoming Mr. Country Superfarmer is not realistic for most (not to say that I personally wouldn't like to) and "organic" is not necessarily synonymous with "healthy".

Nice ideas tho'... :)

I finally just watched it.

Some truths, some stretches, and some other omitted truths.

The sad part is, since the making, millions more are uninsured.
