$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('max_power29', 'y')ou kind of backed up what i said though, Modern medical care
especially anaesthetics.
I've also decided recently to go to the liquor store and start stocking up on decent booze with each paycheck for both barter and getting wasted after the crash. I imagine there will be nobody to tell us not to grow marijuana during our short-ass lives either.
I wouldn't be too sure about that...unless you're thinking of a Lord-of-The-Flies-meets-Road-Warrior type future. There will be medical care to be have--just not the real high tech stuff. I think it will be like living during the American Civil War (Not before, not after, *during*). Except that we have a few more things up our sleeves.
As for anesthetics, we'll always have chloroform. And don't forget Heroin. Heroin? Yep. They gave it to me at Johns Hopkins after getting burned pretty good. They call it "Dilaudid" or "Synthetic Heroin". Heroin. It worked pretty well too.
I don't know much about antibiotics, but Penicillin was discovered early 20thC, right?
So...you could write yourself off--which is fine by me--or you could start studying medicine and first aid. Most community colleges offer EMT & Paramedic courses. That's the kind of person I'd want in my community.
As for me, I'll miss all the dramatic versions of Peak Oil events we all imagined
