$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Coolman', 'L')ook, the die is going to happen. It always does, the population can not grow forever. The belief that anything can go on forever is insane.
And speaking of all these "advanced technologies", I would greet them with extreme skepticism. Stuff like this has been promised in the past before and failed to deliver what it had promised. Nature always finds a way to out smart humans.
It is not that we are doomers here, we are just being realistic. I think almost 100 years of 1st world consumerism has blinded us big time. We are addicted to our consumer products and do and say anything to defend them.
1. Why can't population growth go on forever? Granted it isn't looking to good right now. But who is to say that America wont colonize another planet? Lord knows were running out of places here on earth.
2. Yes, "stuff" has been promised before and failed. But other "Stuff" has advanced are society in many ways. You know, like the wheel and mixing peanut butter and chocolate!!!
3. I'm not saying that consumerism is a good thing. But are consumer based economy has brought me medicine for my allergies, the rolling stones and again, peanut butter and chocolate!!!
Can you imagine trying to explain to someone ,from the 18th century, how the internet works? If I had lived in the 18th cenutry( a blink in history from then to now) I would probably be dead due to an illness. I'm 36.
Look, I like to debate for both teams depending on my mood. I know this Globalized Industrial World and this country in particular is probably headed for some very tough times. But to quickly dismiss a promising new science like nanotechnology or any other technology or science only proves you people wouldve been the ones saying the "world is flat" and "hey, were just being realistic, there is no way you can sail around the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
