It appears the best way of avoiding and defeating cancer is to follow something like the Atkins diet. The high fat, low sugar diet ensures that glycolysis (the process used by cancers outside of the mitochondria) is bypassed, and the ketone bodies are directly used in the mitochondria. The following study was for brain cancer:
link Of course, they used KetoCal®, because there would be little point in doing the study if there wasn't something they could peddle. The original New Scientist link also uses something to bypass glycolysis, but it would appear that avoiding refined food is the answer to avoiding cancer.
The New Scientist article said that DCA (the drug they are using to bypass glycolysis) impacts lung, breast and brain cancers, so it can be assumed that the ketone approach will do the same (it was only tested on brain tumours). This is good news.
It would appear that a calorie reduced high fat diet is the way to go initially if you get diagnosed, completely cutting out on saccharides. This would ensure that all the glycogen is removed rapidly and the ketone bodies can start being metabolised.
What we think, we become.
