Heres my personal range I made. The picture was taken from an elevated conrete pad which is the deck (Seen in later pics). The hydrant is roughly 40 yards down, so I'm still in the orchad at 50 yards. If I go into the field behind the orchad, well, you aint got enough rifle to use up my range.
Heres the field behind the range to give you an idea how far it goes. The farm waaay back there is a little over 1.5 miles away
Just south of the range we parked the old tractor. We dont use it anymore, but she still runs. Damned thing is a monster, its got lugging power that makes a diesel look like a lawn mower. The tractor is facing towards where the current garden is, and where our old house used to be. It was a trailer house, and a pretty shitty one at that.
If you walk to the end of my range and turn about 45 degrees to the left (facing north-east) you can see the church. Thats where I got married.
At the end of the range is a lane that runs north-south. The previous picture if from the lane, if you follow it just north of the orchard you get to the bins. Can you say "Survival grain storage"? Yeah, those survivalists with some cans in the basement dont have shit on us.
Heres a picture from the top of the bins, facing north-west. You can see our pasture just on the left side, the rest is fields.
Here we are from the same bin facing north, with the church on the right side of the picture.
This if from the bin facing south. You can see the "lane" I was talking about on the left side, which curves around in front of the bins and runs off to the right. The Minnie (Yellow tractor from above) is right about in the middle of the pic. My range is in the orchard, running from right to left with the deck being on the right side (Not visible).
Again from the bins, facing east.
This if from the other bin, facing south-west. The roof you see in the trees is actually the roof of our old house.
From the bin, facing the church again. (Trying to get a "close up", my camera blows)
This is from the lane in front of the bins, facing towards the west. The almost fallen in shed, well, thats my fault its almost fallen in.....Kind of a long story to that involving a dead animal, tow rope and a bit too much throttle......
This is from the end of the lane, by where the gate to the corrals is from the previous pic facing south.
Picture of the corrals, same position as pic above but facing towards the west.
The driveway, which runs in front of the shop 2 pictures up.
The workhorses of the farm. I've went round n round more times then I care to count in both of those.
The old workhorse. Shes a dual fuel, starts on gas then throw a switch to go to diesel. Fed alot of cows with that......
This is walking down the driveway just past the 2 shops and looking south.
Walked a bit south in the last picture, then turned to face back east (Yes, we're doing a circle around the farm) You can see our new house on the middle left. That deck also functions as my range depending on the weather and time of day. Facing south off the deck gives me more range then the other range. And we get half a mile on that one without blinking an eye....... So, what do YOU want to shoot today? I can accomodate.....
Fields of gold......
To give you an idea how far out we are.....If you look at the second telephone pole from the left, just to the left of the 2nd pole you can make out grain elevators. There white and hazy so its hard to spot them, but they are there if you look closely. Those are around 10 miles away. The town is population 1500 (Roughly), so its not a big town by any stretch.
This is from the deck of the new house, facing east. It did serve as my range, until I didnt observe the "Know whats behind your target" and shot a branch off of a fruit tree. Yeah, mom wasnt too happy about that......
You can also see the garden towards the back, which is again where our old house used to sit.
The front of the new house, from the middle of the lane that comes in from the driveway and runs around the farm. And of course, my son being silly.....
Here we are from the deck of the old house looking south at the new house. The new house sits right where the old garden used to be.
And this is from the deck of the new house facing north towards the old house, which is where the first pic was snapped from. Yep, thats our old house......And if you think that peice of shit is bad, you should have seen the other house.....
And thats the farm. Just a good ole country boy who likes to be back home......
