$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Wednesday', 'Y')ou see, if my husband never indulged me we would not have a garden today.
If he insisted that I conform to his personal vision of the future, we would not have ANY of our Peak Oil preps in place.
He did it because he thought it would be a fun, healthy hobby for me, it was simply a man indulging his wife.
Now my preps might ease our transition, and because he was kind and indulgent he will benefit.
He's also come around to see things differently since then, he's not blind. I always knew he'd "get it" and he has.
If my husband can learn, why not these men's wives too?
The original post that triggered this was a while back on another thread and involved a man who couldn't get his wife to quit shopping. It wasn't simply a case of not being able to educate her as to the real dire future we may all face, but one where the woman would surely have bankrupted them both, peak oil or no. I don't think that particular situation was at all similar to your situation that you've just described.
As for the fellow who started this particular thread, if you read my follow up response to his particular situation, you'll see I certainly wouldn't suggest dumping a spouse for simply not understanding peak oil!
When I referred to some people as "a waste of skin"on the older thread it triggered a barrage of personal insults. Having had a MALE partner a couple of decades ago who was completely selfish, spent everything he had and then went deeply into debt, I have an aversion, not for women, but for certain personality types.
