Your VW emits less Carbon obviously due to its higher MPG. But, it emits far more acid rain forming NOx, and smog forming CO so it is far worse for air quality than any brand new SUV. The 2006 Tahoe is rated 16/22 C/H in 2WD, and 15/21 in the 4WD version. That's the best MPG in the class for both versions.

Sorry, but I'm not going to dump a paid-for efficient vehicle to sound virtuous to the global warming camp, for a super-expensive HOG that probably produced more acid rain in its manufacture than I'll ever produce from driving to work TWICE A WEEK.

Except that it missed the point completely. This ain't about virtue, or 'greenness'. It's about successfully doing without while the rest of the dweebs in this country tool in their assault vehicles over a cliff.

I'm paying a third of what most people pay for gas, will always pay a third, and drive a lot less, and always will drive a lot less than everyone else. Frankly, I could give a shit about my emissions, given how little I drive.

I've cut back, sacrificed and learned to love it. I've a right to "self-congratulation."

Sorry to be prejudiced, but they are specifically targeting fat patriotic Americans who laugh in the face of high oil prices, make fun of environmentalists, require the extra roomy seats, voted for Bush, and are still convinced Saddam is giving WMD to Al Qaeda. These are the only people still buying American cars.

Excellent falser!! I could add 'fast-food chomping, meat-eating, war-loving, bad-at-math drop-out types to that wonderful prejudiced list you so elegantly started. I mean, who is really buying those terribly lousy mileage and rediculous-looking SUV's and other American-made cars anyhow?

And it's such a darn shame too because the incredible creative talent is no doubt available to those at the top of the Big Three. But for some reason (conspiracy buffs are invited to take a whack at this) they seem to be intentionally taking measures to destroy the US auto industry instead of innovating for what is obviously coming down the pike.

I resemble that remark, somewhat. There's nothing like a good Filet Mignon, medium rare with béarnaise sauce. I can almost taste it now. I'm also pretty good at math; I kind of needed to be to get two science degrees.

This silly "Toyota and Honda good, GM and Ford bad", view the wacky, greenie left has of the Auto industry is beyond silly, it's just plain wrong.

If GM is "bad" for making the Tahoe, Toyota must be "Even Worse" (one of Weird Al's better CD's) for making the Sequoia (15/18 2WD, 15/17 4WD) and "Land Crusher" (13/17, OUCH!), since they get worse mileage than the Tahoe (16/22 2WD, 15/21 4WD).

I drive a 2003 Impala. It gets about 28 MPG winter, 31 summer. What is wrong with this GM car?

That is very, very true... BUT.. the laws of economics superseed the laws of physics when the stuff is plentiful :P

Oh by the way, a car at 75 mph isn't pumping out 200 hp. More like 70 or 80 8)

A fit average cyclist has about .5 horsepower. On a light bike cruising, that might be a sustainable 25 mph (might be).
