The Talking Heads were on top of this Peak Oil thing in the Eighties.

Electricity
Lyrics & Music by: Bob Dorough
Performed by: Zachary Sanders
1985 - Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark

Our one source of energy
The ultimate discovery
Electric blue for me
Never more to be free
Electricity
Nuclear and HEP
Carbon fuels from the sea
Wasted electricity

Our one source of energy
Electricity
All we need to live today
A gift for man to throw away
The chance to change has nearly gone
The alternative is only one
The final source of energy
Solar electricity

Leaves are falling all around,
It’s time I was on my way.
Thanks to you, I’m much obliged
For such a pleasant stay.

But now it’s time for me to go,
The autumn moon lights my way.
For now I smell the rain,
And with it pain,
And it’s headed my way.
Ah, sometimes I grow so tired,
But I know I’ve got one thing I got to do,

Ramble on,
And now’s the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
I’m goin’ ’round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
I’ve been this way ten years to the day, ramble on,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

Got no time to for spreadin’ roots,
The time has come to be gone.
And tho’ our health we drank a thousand times,
It’s time to ramble on.

Ramble on,
And now’s the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
I’m goin’ ’round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
I’ve been this way ten years to the day, ramble on,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

I ain’t tellin’ no lie.

Mine’s a tale that can’t be told,
My freedom I hold dear;
How years ago in days of old
When magic filled the air,
T’was in the darkest depths of mordor
I met a girl so fair,
But gollum, and the evil one crept up
And slipped away with her.
Her, her....yea.
Ain’t nothing I can do, no.

Ramble on,
And now’s the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
I’m goin’ ’round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
I’ve been this way ten years to the day, ramble on,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

Gonna ramble on, sing my song
Gotta keep-a-searchin’ for my baby...
Gonna work my way, round the world
I can’t stop this feelin’ in my heart
Gotta keep searchin’ for my baby
I can’t find my bluebird!
I’d listen to my bluebird sing but I can’t find my blue bird
A-keep-a ramblin’ baby...

Led Zeppelin › Ramble On
What will arrive first? Peak Oil or the Second Coming? My money is now on the latter.

"Tripping"

First they ignore you
Then laugh at you and hate you
Then they fight you
Then you win

When the truth dies very bad things happen
They're being heartless again
I know it's coming and there's going to be violence

Absolutely. Did you know that he built those square box guitars himself? Great talent.

btw, I usually wake up in the morning with some song playing in my head. So I lie in bed for a little bit trying to figure out why that particular song is there and can damn near always relate it to either a dream I had or some event of the prior day. (I deliberately set the alarm earlier than I need to so I can do this.) So this morning I'm hearing The Beatles Happiness Is A Warm Gun and I'm wondering, why this song? So I searched my memory and recalled not one, but two movies I had watched Sunday in which the gun was not just a casual prop, but a heavy symbolic element. One was the Andy Garcia, Kevin Bacon flick The Air That I Breathe. The other was a rather cheesy Stephen King book-to-movie piece of crap, Dreamcatchers. I've said it before, most King novels make lousy movies. But anyway, it's funny how the mind works.
