What an interesting coincidence. Morrison dies the same day golem is born. Here's a song for that:

Break On ThroughI read Morrison's biography. He was very shy about being a singer. He formed the band around his ideas and lyrics. He got over being shy, but it cost him his life.

Break on through to the lighter side

Hot Dog, hot dog.

Unfortunately, they cut the song just when it was getting really good.

Here's another old tune that reminds me of heartaches. Teenaged blues are nothing compared to blues in your 20s. Working as a mud logger on drilling rigs and walking along an estuary in Ventura, CA, feelin' sad with this song in my head:

Bluer Than Blue

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('dinopello', '
')Day Tripper (Hendrix/Beatles)
A little controversy about whether the Beatles were involved with this. I was checking into it, seems it was a BBC Hendrix session. But I found out that The Monkeys outsold The Beatles & The Rolling Stones together for about a year from '66 to '67. Why not? For a teenager at the time they were fun. This one reminds me of when I was a 7th grade kid with an 8th grade girlfriend. We went to Disneyland with another 8th grade boy and girl. We had fun. She later broke up with me because her 8th grade friends told her she shouldn't date a 7th grader. Her name was Roxanne.

btw, The Monkeys were actual musicians, despite the stories that say they were a kind of 60s Milli Vanilli. Michael Nesmith - Joanne

Ooo controversy ! I was wondering about that. That Day Tripper song is on my BBC sessions Hendrix CD and I don't think it mentioned the beatles.

I used to listen to my sisters Monkey's album and I watched their TV series.

Mary Mary - Monkeys

What's up with songs about Mary ? Mary must be the most common name that is sung about

The Wind Cries Mary

Proud Mary

Now Mary

Mary

and there are many others...

heh heh, Mary songs. Here's one from a Dylan album that was thoroughly trashed by Rolling Stone magazine. I can't say that this one was all that great but there was some good stuff on that album, Self-Portrait. Ironically of course he didn't write any of the songs. Here's a coverage of a Gordon Lightfoot song that I've always been fond of: Early Morning Rain

The nacos in the barrios seem to like this oldie. They're supposed to have bad taste and put big felt dice hanging from their rear view mirrors. Guess I'm a white naco. I like this song.
