So that's what George has been doing. Catapulting the propaganda. I like the concept.

Damn, all that hard reasearch on the best vehicle to buy before purchasing the Ford Escape Hybrid. What's the chance I'm gonna be able to get parts and repair, say in another five years? Never mind that I'll have to pay $10 a gallon! Has the repair manual been translated into Chinese yet?

No, it was actually Herr Hitler himself, although he most probably said it in German and with more spittle.

Goering pointed out how to make them believe the lie

" Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country. " - Herman Goering

The frightening thing about reading history is how upto date alot of peoples' quotations sound, this includes ancient history.

Despite modern knowledge and education, people are not as sophisticated as we like to believe.

The only reason I know this is because hitlers methods to control the people are constantly being compaired to bush's methods.

It took millions of years for us to come out of the trees and stand up straight. Does anyone really think we've changed all that much in the last 2000? How about in the last 100?

Ford Motor, the third-largest carmaker, said it was developing plans for "significant plant closings" as it announced its first quarterly loss in two years.

Bill Ford, chairman and chief executive, said "there will be sacrifices asked from our people from top to bottom", but repeated forecasts of a full-year profit for the company, which is struggling with falling sales of its most profitable vehicles in north America and rising losses in Europe.

Why credit Hitler & his men with this? Its been going on long before this century!

"Beware of the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry, [who] infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How will I know? For this I have done. And I am Julius Caesar." 100-44 BC...

Here's an example:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '

')

Which makes this:

What will become of GM and FOrd? Will they just become smaller companies that build only truck/SUVS (only thing they make money on) or will the cease to exist?

I just read how Delphi wants to cut a crapload of jobs...thats a lot of vehicle parts!

Will they use robots? Chinese slaves?

Atleast WalMart is hiring.

Sorry, KevO, I was under the impression that the mods had explained it to you.

Just click on the URL button. It's above the area where you type your message. It will prompt you to paste in the URL, then the name of the website/article. It's really easy - no need to remember any fancy codes or HTML or anything.

You know, I used to think the airlines would be the canaries in the coal mine, because so much of air travel is nonessential. But now I'm wondering if it will be the car companies, specifically the American car companies, that die first.

Airlines are ailing, but their market share is protected, to a great extent, because the FAA decides who can fly where, and when. You won't have foreign airlines taking over the Boston to St. Louis run.

Not so with cars. Toyota is kicking Ford's butt. People are starting to fear that GM will declare bankruptcy. Chrysler has never been the same since they declared banktruptcy in the '70s, though they had a brief heyday when they invented the minivan.

If GM does declare bankruptcy, will the feds bail them out, like they did Chrysler?
