The ugliness of the coming financial collapse may be rearing its head. Our county is about to close the county poor farm that has been in existence since the mid 1800’s. For over a century the old and the poor of this county have had a place to fall back on in their times of need. And my family knows of the place first hand from the days of the depression.

Now the county has decided to balance the budget on the backs of these poor folks. Many of whom will have no where to go.

The funny thing is that the county recently purchased 180 acres of land right next to the interstate and then turned around and gave the land to Wal-Mart for a distribution center. We have also given tax incentives and made major road improvements to a site for a Dollar General distribution center.

We have all this money for “Job Creation”, in other words corporate welfare, but we don’t have a problem kicking the old and the poor into the streets. Makes me wonder how soon those of us who are not much further up the will be wading in manure.
